DC convenes meeting of arrangements committees
NewZNew (Bathinda) : Regional Saras Mela is being held in Bathinda from March 7 to March 18. After the year 2009, Bathinda would host this event this year wherein cultural programs, stalls from various states and other entertainment things. would keep visitors engrossed. While addressing officers at the meeting convened in this context today the Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg today said that the fair would be held at the Rose Garden Plaza on GT Road Bathinda grounds.
Dr Garg said that around 400 self help groups and 100 cultural items’ artists would be participate in this event. He added that the additional deputy commissioner (development) Mr Varinder Sharma has been appointed as the regional saras mela officer and he would coordinate with all the departments.
SDM Bathinda has been instructed to ensure security arrangements of the mela site and that of visitors to the place. Besides this visitors coming from other states as well as the artists presenting cultural programs would be guided through the welcome counters at railway station, bus stand and old bus stand.
These welcome centers would work round the clock for 24 hours and would provide buses/ vehicles for ferrying passengers to and fro from the mela site.
Civil surgeon as been directed to provide first aid and ambulance at mela site. The artists from North Zone Culture Patiala would be giving performances everyday.
The officers were directed to ensure that ten blocks of temporary toilets are erected at the mela site. Municipal Corporation officials were directed to ensure cleanliness of mela ground. Rs 10 entry fees has been proposed for each visitor
ADC (D) Mr Varinder Sharma, SDM Mr Damanjit Singh Maan, DDPO Mr Rajinder Batra, SP Mr Jasvir Singh and other officers were present in meeting.
