Government of Haryana reviewing infrastructure for ease of business

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs in association with the Government of Haryana organized an interaction with Mr D S Dhesi, Chief Secretary, Haryana. The interaction also witnessed the presence of top brass of State Government officials including Mr Devender Singh, Principal Secretary Industries; Mr Vineet Garg, Managing Director HSIIDC and  Dr D Suresh, Commissioner, Gurgaon Division, Government of Haryana;

“There is a positive and conducive environment for Industrial growth for past one and a half years. Gurgaon showcases the strengths of the state at a global level but the city has not been able to keep pace with the Infrastructure development. Government has constituted a taskforce for Gurgaon for solving all infrastructure related problems. NHAI has approved three underpasses at IFFCO Chowk, Signature towers and Rajiv Chowk.” highlighted Mr D S Dhesi, Chief Secretary, Haryana at the interaction. Mr Dhesi in his address invited industries to set up units in other districts of Haryana apart from Gurgaon & Faridabad and ensured policy incentives and availability of competitive infrastructure in these districts to facilitate investment.

“The objective of the Enterprises Promotion Policy 2015 is to position Haryana as a pre-eminent Investment destination and facilitate balanced regional and sustainable development, supported by a dynamic governance system, wide scale adoption of innovation & technology, and skill development for nurturing entrepreneurship and generating employment opportunities. The new policy will make industries competitive by reducing the cost of doing business, enhancing productivity, and supporting the MSME sector. ” said Mr Devender Singh, Principal Secretary Industries while presenting the key highlights of the Enterprises Promotion Policy 2015

Dr D Suresh, Commissioner, Gurgaon Division, Government of Haryana said that ”We need more investments through Public Private Partnerships in urban infrastructure to create more smart cities.”

Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs highlighted the unique role that IICA is in a position to discharge, being at the cusp of government, education and industry. “We at IICA are aware of the many synergies that exist and look forward to exploring the possibilities of extending services across the board in facilitation, advisory and capacity building for corporates not only here in the region but across the country “he said. “there is no limit to what can be done with the coordination nd combined efforts of institutions such as ours and the CII to energise the corporate sector.”

“CII would also like to congratulate Government of Haryana for bringing out a progressive and comprehensive industrial policy – ‘Enterprises Promotion Policy 2015’. We are glad that majority of the recommendations submitted by us for different sectors have been included in the policy. The focus of the policy is on enhancing the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in Haryana and make it an Investment hub both domestically and globally, with the aim to ensure the overall socio-economic development of the state. He said that balanced regional growth with economic development of all the districts through facilitating investments would be the key to a sustainable growth pattern for Haryana. “Time bound clearances & effective grievance redressal systems will certainly boost the investors’ confidence and promote transparency in governance.” said  Mr Jayant Davar, Co-Chairman, CII National Manufacturing Council & Co-Chairman & Managing Director, Sandhar Technologies Ltd

“Haryana State government has been working aggressively with the industry in terms of reach, listing Industry’s concerns and suggestions and closely working towards arriving at solutions. It has been considerate in ensuring the basic needs of the industry through reforms and incentives across sectors. The recently announced Enterprise Promotion Policy 2015 has been a huge morale booster for the industry in the stateSkilling is the backbone of the growth of the state. We should introduce ‘Train the Trainers’ programme and implement it aggressively. There should be interface between industry, government and academia for the same.” said Mr Shreekant Somany, Chairman, CII Northern Region & Chairman & Managing Director, Somany Ceramics Ltd.

The prime objective of the interaction was to discuss the salient features of the new Enterprise Promotion Policy of Haryana and deliberate on Ease of Doing Business in Haryana and issues being faced by industry. The industry captains participated in the Interactive session with gusto and received response from the representatives of state in great detail and depth.

The interaction witnessed the presence of over 120 industry leaders from across the state.
