NewZNew (Chandigarh – Kulbir Singh Kalsi) : Kings XI Punjab, a community driven team, has always endeavoured to contribute towards the society. In an earnest quest to do so, the franchise hosted 50 children from Wadia Hospital Mumbai to watch the match live in Pune on April 15, 2015. These children got an opportunity to interact with their favourite cricketers who in turn attempted to inspire them to work towards a brighter future. Ahead of this, Kings XI Punjab players also visited Ruby Hall Cancer Centre for a meet and greet with the cancer patients and survivors. The national and domestic players of Kings XI Punjab spent close to an hour with the brave heart survivors and patients to further lift their spirits.
The players, including David Miller, Thisara Perera, Akshar Patel, Parvinder Awana and Manan Vohra were humbled by the experience of interacting with their young fans and wished well for their future. The players engaged with the kids by giving autographs and team t-shirts and also clicked pictures with them.
Commenting on the occasion, Ness Wadia, Co-Promoter and Board of Director, Kings XI Punjab, said, “At Kings XI Punjab, every initiative we partake in has the same objective which is for us to play our part and give back to society in every way we can. By creating a heart warming experience for both the players and patients we were able to use our star power and cricket to create a unique and memorable experience for the children from the Wadia Hospital and cancer patients at Ruby Hall Clinic.”
Dr Minnie Bodhanwala, CEO, Wadia Hospitals, “Every year we see more than 3000 new cases of haematology, oncology, cardiac kids, these are very special kids, their treatments are complex and we have a very good team of doctors at Wadia Hospitals, Mumbai taking care of them. We provide free of cost treatment to these patients. The gesture from Kings XI Punjab team brings joy to the faces of our patients which would not be possible for us without the support of Kings XI Punjab team. We would like to thank the Kings XI Punjab for sharing their success with the underprivileged Haemat-Onco and Cardiac Paediatric patients.
