NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Think Italian, Spanish, Lebanese, Greek, Syrian, and Moroccan and now think Chandigarh. Yes! The Mediterranean cuisine comes all the way to the heartland of Punjab to entice you with its varied flavors and authentic appeal.

Taj Chandigarh starts its 10 day Mediterranean food festival from the 5th of June to the 14th of June, at its 24 hour coffee shop, Café 17. Offering extensive lunch and dinner buffets, the food festival brings to the table Mediterranean specialties like Hummus, Mouttbel, Lahm Bamia, Shavarma and of course the deliciously sweet Baklava.

Visiting Chef, Nitesh Kumar, who is traveling all the way from Kolkata, brings to Chandigarh his expertise in not only Mediterranean cuisine, but also his experience of having worked at the top notch hotels in the country. Known for his excellent culinary skills, Chef Nitesh believes that cooking is an art that demands passion and a true love for food. Armed with these attributes, he is able to offer a mix and match of the entire Mediterranean region and put together the right combination of the many dishes involved.

Mr Surinder Singh, the GM of Taj Chandigarh said that he is proud to have Chef Nitish over and is confident that the mastery of the Chef will reflect in the spread he puts together. Mr Singh goes on to tell us how Chef Nitish has been instrumental in opening ”Sukh” the Mediterranean restaurant at Taj Bengal, which is today phenomenally popular in the region.

The lunch and dinner buffet boasts of over 20 types of Mezze salads along with soups and snacks. The main course allows you to choose from over 10 types of vegetarian and non- vegetarian Mediterranean delights. Live counters will offer the ever popular pastas along with the delicious grills from the region. The chicken Shavarma, from the live counters is not to be missed at all. Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy the many desserts that Chef Nitish has hand-picked for the occasion.  The flavored water, typical of this region, will have you reaching out for more.

Priced at INR 1000 plus taxes for the lunch and dinner buffet and INR 1250 plus taxes for the Sunday brunch, this is a festival that has all the right ingredients to give you that authentic Mediterranean meal experience.
