NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Oakridge International School Mohali in association with Entecres Labs introduced the Stem programme have introduced of Stem programme. Stem education is already implemented across more than 112 countries. Stem is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. These areas together are essential for student success. These fields are deeply intertwined in the real world. Stem is an interdisciplinary and applied approach which is coupled with hands-on, problem-based learning.

Stem programme promotes using mostly recyclable material, students construct models such as gliders, submarines, hovercrafts, balloon car, catapult, bio-batteries and parachutes, as a part of their science classes in school. The level of difficulty progresses with each class, as per syllabus, from catapults, aero-modelling, contraption building, to robotic programming.

While speaking at the moment Principal Ramanjit Ghuman said that the Stem Education is designed to expose students to science and technology from a young age and to develop inclination towards these subjects using inquiry methods and to develop problem solving skills. This programme helps to draw real world connections to the workforce and community. Stem projects also provide self-directed, challenge-based learning rather than simply absorbing and regurgitating facts.
