NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : Rs. 33 crore will be spent under MGNREGA scheme in district SAS Nagar and Rs. 5 crore 12 lacs has been spent under the scheme so far. This was stated by Chairperson Zila Parishad Bibi Paramjeet Kaur Badali while presiding over a meeting at office of Zila Perished at District Administrative Complex.
Bibi Badali said that to promote the sports in rural areas, three new sports stadiums at village Samgoli of Block Dera Bassi, village Slamatpur of Block Majri & at village Ghatour of Block Kharar will be constructed. These sports stadiums will be having modern facilities and requisite sports equipments will also be provided at here. Bibi Badali further said that under MGNREGA scheme Rs. 10 crore will be spent for villages under Block Dera Bassi, Rs. 13 crore 15 lacs for villages of Block Kharar and Rs. 7 crore 33 lacs will be spent for villages falling under Block Majri. She said that approximate Rs. 3 crore will be spent by Forest Department under MGNREGA scheme, wherein tree plantation on link roads, outer periphery & on common lands will be done.
Bibi Badali said that under MGNREGA scheme, employment opportunities for the villagers will be created and on the other hand renovation of village ponds etc. will be carried out. She said that during the year 2015-16, employment opportunities on daily wages will be provided to 1 lac 70 thousand persons under the scheme. In this regard, approximate 1 lacs persons on daily wages have been employed so far. She said that to ensure clean and green environment, various development works including cleaning of road sides & strengthening of berms are being carried out under MGNREGA scheme in the district.
During the meeting additional deputy commissioner (Development) Sh. Bhupinder Singh, Secretary Zila Parishad Sh. Ravinder singh Sandhu, Vice Chairperson Zila PArishad Smt. Bimal Kaur, Chairperson Panchayat Samiti Majri Smt. Manjeet Kaur, Chairman Panchayat Samiti Kharar Sh. Resham Singh, Member Zila Parishad Sh. Karnail singh, Sh. Gurnam Singh Bhankharpur, Smt. Karamjeet Kaur, Sh. Malkiat Singh, Smt. Mahinder Kaur and BDPO Dera Bassi Sh. Surinder Singh Dhaliwal, BDPO Kharar Sh. Malwinder Singh and BDPO Majri Smt. Rupinderjit Kaur were present.
