NewZNew (Bathinda) : 99 percent of services in Punjab, notified under Right to Service Act, are delivered in stipulated period and efforts were being made to ensure that remaining one percent applicants get their works done in time, said the Chief Commissioner, Punjab Right To Service Commission Mr S C Aggarwal here today.
Mr Aggarwal was here to conduct lok adalat of the Punjab Right To Service Commission at DC Meeting Hall in District Administrative Complex (DAC) wherein 166 cases related to attestation of uncontested mutations of November 2014 were taken up.
At the lok adalat 24 people were given a patient hearing on the spot. All these cases were relate to the renewal of arms licence. On the spot eight arms licences were suspended and six were renewed. Pending applications regarding other departments too were reviewed.
Talking to the media persons later, Mr S C Aggarwal said that in Punjab every month around 20 lac applications are received and 99 percent of these are disposed in time bound manner. He added that the Punjab government has notified 149 services under the Punjab Right to Service (PRTS) Act 2011 for time bound delivery while another set of 70 more services may be added soon. He said that draft regarding these 70 additional services is ready and its notification may be issued soon.
Government has also designated officers, First Appellate Authority, Second Appellate Authority under act. He said that the Punjab Right to Service Act was enacted with an aim to provide hassle free service to people in a stipulated time, adding that Punjab was the first state in the country to constitute the Punjab Right to Service Commission after implementing the Punjab Right to Service Act, 2011.
He said that the PRTS Act-2011 has empowered people to seek services in a hassle free, corruption free, transparent and time-bound manner through different service delivery mechanism.
He added that anyone can submit application to the commission by logging on to website www.rtspunjab.gov.in or can call at the numbers 0172-2790181.
