4. Nineteen Steps (TBA)
Brown is looking to adapt her debut novel, ‘Nineteen Things,’ into a feature film for Netflix. Although the streaming service hasn’t made any official statements, Anthony McCarten is anticipated to write the screenplay. The novel, published in 2023, takes place during World War II and is inspired by Brown’s grandmother’s experiences.
It centers on 18-year-old Nellie Morris from Bethnal Green in east London, who falls in love with an American airman named Ray. However, her life is turned upside down following the Bethnal Green Tube disaster on March 3, 1943, which resulted in the deaths of 173 civilians, including 62 children, who were trying to find shelter during an air raid. Currently, there are rumors that Brown may star in the film, and more information about this exciting project is eagerly anticipated.
