Well known international and national experts to address 35th annual conference of North Zone Orthopaedic Association
NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Renowned Orthopaedic Surgeons from the world over as well as national experts in the field will assemble in Chandigarh to participate in the 35th Annual Conference of North Zone Orthopaedic Association (NZOA) from February 19 to 21, 2016. Announcing this here on Wednesday, Dr Ramesh K Sen, Organizing Chairman of the Conference, said close to 500 delegates from the Region will attend the Conference that is being organized by Orthopaedic Education and Research Society Mohali in association with Chandigarh Orthopaedic Society. The International and National Faculty will participate as speakers, giving the young orthopaedicians an opportunity to learn from the best.
The Pre-conference Workshops on February 19 will include 6 sessions – namely ‘Knee Arthroplasty’ at Fortis Hospital Mohali, ‘Shoulder Arthroplasty’ at PGIMER, Chandigarh, ‘Hip Arthroplasty’ at GMCH-32, Chandigarh, ‘Paediatrics Trauma’ at GMCH-32, Chandigarh, ‘Trauma’ at PGIMER, Chandigarh and ‘Minimally Invasive Spine’ at Trinity Hospital Zirakpur.
Talking to media, Dr Sameer Aggarwal, Secretary NZOA, said the conference is being held in Chandigarh after 6 years. It was held at Rohtak last year. This year’s theme of the conference is “Controversies in Orthopaedics”.
Dr Ramesh K Sen, who is Director of Joint Replacement at Fortis Mohali, said among the distinguished speakers at the conference are international faculty from Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, UK, Switzerland, France and Ireland, besides national faculty from Mumbai, Coimbatore, Manipal, Varanasi and Mangalore.
Notable among the international faculty will be Dr. Robin Peter from Switzerland, Dr. Ross Crawford from Australia, Dr. Catoni from France, Dr Venu and Dr R Pandey from UK. The national faculty will include Dr Ashok Johari, Dr Dheendayalan, Dr Mangal Parihar, Dr Sudhir Warrior and Dr DD Tanna, and sizeable number of regional faculty is also participating.
The informative three-day scientific programme features orations, debates, panel discussions, master’s quiz contest, best paper award, best poster award, award for best question in each session and award for best paper in each free paper session. Total prize money for event winners is Rs 2 Lakh. Two fellowships are also up for grabs to encourage learning from the very best and knowledge sharing.
Nine live surgeries in six different subjects have been planned for the first day. A Master’s Quiz for under-graduates will be one of the highlight of the second day.
The North Zone Orthopaedic Association (NZOA) was formed 36 years ago. It has 850 doctors as members.
