Ewan McGregor, born for the first time in the picturesque town of Perth, Scotland, on March 31, 1971, started strolling down the acting walk quite early, gaining international fame quickly. The movie world noticed him when he took over the role of Mark Renton, the angst-ridden protagonist in the iconic ‘Trainspotting’ (1996).

He was later praised for his brilliant portrayal of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the ‘Star Wars’ prequels. When McGregor ventured into television, he enchanted audiences as the love interest in ‘Moulin Rouge! ‘ (2001), and with his double act as Emmit and Ray Stussy in ‘Fargo’ season 3 (2017). To those under the spell of McGregor’s talent, the future is bright with a list of his upcoming films and shows.

Ewan McGregor plays George Mallory, with Sam Heughan playing George Finch. Against the backdrop of a chaotic history with the first deaths on Everest, the film is set to capture the heart-stopping rapture and stomach-churning tribulations of mountaineering. Juno Temple and Mark Strong, who stars as Arthur Hinks, complete the star-studded cast alongside McGregor. The film was recently filming for the last time, but further information regarding production and release dates is anticipated.
3. The Land of Sometimes (TBA)
‘The Land of Sometimes’ is the forthcoming animated movie based on the popular audiobook. This magical story unfolds the journey of two twins who are magically whisked away to a strange island inhabited by quirky people,

where all the fantasy becomes a reality. Ewan McGregor voices The Wish Collector, a pivotal character on the island who guides the twins’ adventures. Ably joined by McGregor is a fine supporting cast, which features Helena Bonham Carter as Little Twink, David Walliams as The Guardian of the Electric Volcano, the late Terry Jones as The Wish Watch, Brendan Murphy, Ruby Turner, Russ Bray, Jessica Henwick, and Alisha Weir, all playing interesting characters that bring depth and magic to the narrative. Worthily, the movie is one of the last Terry Jones projects, who sadly died in 2020. The screenplay is by Martin Casella, Francesca Longrigg, and Tony Nottage. The UK-based film, which is in the process of filming at the moment, is a visual and emotional treat. The movie hits the screens in Russia on October 30, 2025, and a US release date remains to be announced.
4. Lodi (TBA)
‘Lodi’ is an upcoming crime drama TV series by Timothy Greenberg set to be hosted on Amazon Prime Video. The plot delves deep into the year 1977, encapsulating the life-altering transition of Lou, a regular car salesman in a quaint town, as he unexpectedly finds himself amidst the mafia’s treacherous webs.

Thrust into this unforgiving world when a mob linchpin shows interest in purchasing his Cadillac dealership, Lou’s quest for validation takes a dangerous turn. Ewan McGregor portrays Lou, capturing the depth of a man making the leap from being a humble salesman to being a vital FBI informant. As he goes undercover, navigating the shadowy side streets of organized crime, Lou’s own entanglements escalate into the historic conviction of a powerful crime lord. The series is based on a true story, as outlined in an article by Andrew Dubbins on Alta. Ewan McGregor also has the executive producer hat on with Allie Goss and Jon Liebman of Brillstein Creative Partners. The show is already in pre-production stage under the title of eOne and Amazon Studios.
5. The Cow (TBA)
‘The Cow’ is a forthcoming World War II comedy-drama directed by the talented Marc Forster. The story follows the daring escape of Charlie Granger, a World War II captive. The story aptly depicts the mastermind plan of the protagonist to use a cow for his escape. As he travels through Germany, dodging the curious gazes of German soldiers, the bond he establishes with the cow grows into the emotional center of the film. As Charlie navigates a remarkable 200 miles through his bovine companion, Marguerite, they are confronted with obstacles from geographical challenges to a lovesick bull.

Their joint journey encapsulates the mix of hardship, humor, and the developing connection between man and animal. The movie borrows from the original French comedy ‘La Vache et le Prisonnier,’ based on Jacques Antoine’s novel. Playing the role of the captive again, Ewan McGregor describes the intricacies of a man who wants to be free amidst war chaos. The movie witnesses the return of McGregor and director Marc Forster, bringing back the synergy of their earlier collaboration in ‘Christopher Robin.’ Written by Bill Prady, the writer behind the acclaimed ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ this adaptation combines humor with heartbreaking moments. With its engrossing blend of humor, action, and unadulterated emotion, this movie is definitely on the radar of many film enthusiasts. The movie is lagging in the pre-production stage for an extended period and we have to wait to see if it materializes.Read More: Hugh Grant: All Upcoming Films and TV Series
