Retail Business and Management College (RBMC), Christchurch has been ordered closed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) for its “educational performance and non-compliance with NZQA rules.”
NZQA has cancelled the registration of Oasis International Education Limited, trading as Retail Business and Management College and was offering National Diplomas in Business in Levels 5 and 6 and a Level 7 Diploma in Retail Management.
All the students, except one, of this private training establishment (PTE) are from India.
Earlier this year, NZQA ordered the college to stop taking new students due to “concerns about the assessment practices”. This college was opened in 2012.
NZQA Deputy Chief Executive Quality Assurance, Grant Klinkum said “We have contacted students with information about what has happened and how they can continue their studies.”
“Our focus is working to transfer these students to alternative high-quality tertiary education organisations who will provide a full package of learning and support,” Grant added.
This business college is the fifth private training establishment – second in Christchurch itself- which has had its registration cancelled by NZQA since July last year.
Several other PTEs are also under ongoing investigation by NZQA to “ensure quality education is delivered to students” and “integrity of New Zealand’s tertiary education” is maintained.
