UK Generation India Study in India Programme started at the Punjab University

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The UK Generation India Study in India Programme started at the Punjab University, Chandigarh,  today. 29 students from UK Universities will stay at the International Hostel of PU from 17th  July to 31st July, 2016 and attend a course on Gender and Gender Relations in India at the Centre for Women Studies.

The inaugural session was held on July 18, 2016 in the morning. The Deputy High Commissioner, Mr David Lelliot of UK was the Guest of Honor. He welcomed the participants and wished them well. The Vice Chancellor, PU, gave a brief overview of the University, its history and the history of Chandigarh.

The Dean Students Welfare, Professor Navdeep  Goyal, gave a warm welcome to the students. Professor Ameer Sultana, Course Coordinator, gave a brief introduction of the course. Professor Ramanjit Johal, Assistant Director, Research Promotion Cell, PU, gave the vote of thanks and talked about the inception of the course.

Mr Himanshu Mittal Head, UK Generation India, spoke on the occasion. The session also included a Skype chat with Alan Gemmell, Director, British Council India.
