The event proved to be an excellent platform for knowledge sharing and to experience first-hand the qualities of Canadian Wood. An interactive session covered several topics such as
· Benefits of using certified wood from sustainably managed forests
· Timber milling practices in Canada producing standardized high-quality lumber
· Technical information on each species’ physical and working properties leading to a stable, high-quality finished product
· Creating aesthetically superior and high-quality products such as furniture, solid wooden doors, door frames, wooden windows, paneling and even other outdoor and structural applications.
Pranesh Chhibber, Country Director, FII India said,“India loves wood. It has for centuries and will continue to do so. In fact, the demand for solid wood has grown exponentially leading India to import more that 7.5 million cubic meters a year to meet the demand. This is where Canadian Wood can plug a gap in the Indian market. With certified wood, standard grades & sizes, assured quality and proper manufacturing practices in Canada, the lumber from B.C. is one of the best in the world.”
Recounting his learnings from the seminar, Paramjeet Singh from Mohali, a large scale contractor, said, “I personally found the workshop very useful where I gained vast knowledge about the Canadian Wood and its uses. The one thing that particularly impressed me and caught my attention was to know how well suited the wood is to Indian climate and working conditions. Some examples of work showcased by Indian manufacturers also made us aware of the benefits of using Canadian Wood.”
