However, a few movies defy the rule to give the audience something truly exceptional. Koratala Siva’s ‘Devara Part 1’ is an Indian Telugu-language drama film starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr, better known as Jr NTR, Saif Ali Khan, and Prakash Raj. The action-packed drama of epic proportions narrates the tale of Devara, a courageous man who takes extreme steps to prevent his village people from stepping into the trade of smuggling, and Vara, his timid son, who is hired by Devara’s rivals to eliminate him and make money from smuggling. ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is an Indian sci-fi epic drama flavored with mythology set in a dystopian world, written and directed by Nag Ashwin. It has two storylines that progress in parallel but are intertwined. One of them revolves around Bhairava (Prabhas), a lone bounty hunter who aspires to enter the Complex, a megastructure from where god-king Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) commands the city of Kasi. Rajkumar Periasamy’s Tamil biographical war film ‘Amara’ revolves around the life of Major Mukund Varadarajan, who lost his life during a counter-terrorism mission in Jammu and Kashmir, India, on April 25, 2014. Narrated from Mukund’s wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese’s (Sai Pallavi) point of view, the movie depicts Varadarajan (Sivakarthikeyan) from his training period to serving in the Indian army and how he demonstrated bravery in many battles as a member of the CAT (Counter Assault Team) Team. Spike Lee is one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood right now, and it is because of his incredible storytelling ability. Whether it is ‘Do The Right Thing’ or ‘BlacKkKlansman,’ the guy has brought to light some fairly pertinent black community issues. Now, he is back with ‘Da 5 Bloods,’ a film that is a journey with four Vietnam War veterans who have returned to the former battlefield. But what do they seek? Well, for one, the body of their dead squad leader. But they had also buried loot there before. Prepare yourself, because this movie is well-coherent and socially pertinent. Like nearly every other movie on this list, writer-director S. S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ is over three hours long. The Indian film in the Telegu language is an era film about the British Raj. It is a largely fictionalized account of two revolutionaries from history: Komaram Bheem (N. T. Rama Rao Jr.) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan). When British official Scott Buxton and his wife Catherine kidnap a young girl called Malli from the Gond tribe living in a forest in Adilabad, Bheem journeys to Delhi to save her. At the same time, Ram is a police officer in the British Raj, and this aligns him and Bheem for an unavoidable conflict. They ultimately put aside their animosity to fight the repressive foreign regime. ‘RRR’ is the embodiment of Indian masala films. 6. Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) [2h 19m]

Directed by Rian Johnson, ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ is an independent sequel to ‘Knives Out’ (2019) and transports Daniel Craig’s suave-sleeved detective Benoit Blanc to a Greek island. Directed by J. A. Bayona, ‘Society of the Snow’ gives the gruesome account of the Uruguayan 1972 Andes plane crash disaster and its consequences. How they crashed, what horrifying experiences the survivors had to endure, and if any of them survived the snow alive have been presented in a true-to-life manner that tests the viewer’s ability to endure the agony on the screen. According to Pablo Vierci’s 2009 book of the same name, the film was nominated for a Best International Feature Film at the 2024 Oscars. This movie presents a gritty depiction of a life of crime and has been recognized around the world in terms of its script. Also, with a talented ensemble cast including Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Ray Romano, Bobby Cannavale, Anna Paquin, Stephen Graham, and Harvey Keitel, it comes as no surprise that the performances also received rave reviews. Though his aspirations are shaped by his analytical mind, it also leads to him being diverted from his sister and mother, finally rendering him a lone figure amid men who can’t be relied upon. ‘Scarface’ sheds light on the 1980s drug industry, and, driven by Pacino’s energetic performance, is a visual treat.
