NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Cultural function, performances and competitions marked the 2nd day of the three-day Chandigarh Rose Festival at Rose Garden, sector 16, Chandigarh with the classical musical performance by “Divine Eyes”, a musical group of National Association for the Blind, Chandigarh in the afternoon. Sh. Vijay Dev, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh was the chief guest during the event.
During the evening Dr. Mamta Joshi, renowned Sufi Singer enthralled the audience by Punjabi, Hindi and sufi numbers including “Saanwaria Dekh Jara Is Aur” and “Dama-Dam Mast Kalandar” etc. on the main stage at Rose Garden. Sh. Sarvesh Kaushal, IAS, Chief Secretary, Punjab was the chief guest on the occasion during the Musical Evening programme. Sh. V.P. Singh, IAS, Commissioner, councillors and senior officers of MC were also present during the function.
The main attractions of the day were including Puppet show for the children, Magic show by famous magician Pardeep Kumar and his team in the Rose Garden. In addition to that various cultural programmes were organized by the artists of North Zone Culture Centre (NZCC) and other local artists from schools and colleges. Different competitions and shows including Kite Flying, traditional Folk dance of Maharshtra (Lavani), traditional Folk Dance of Assam (Bihu) and traditional Folk Dance of Rajasthan (Behropia) were also organized during the second day and the results of the competitions are as under:
