42nd Annual National Conference of the Indian Prosthodontic Society is being held at Chandigarh


logoipsc_logohosted_by_logoNewZNew (Chandigarh) : The 42nd annual national conference of the Indian Prosthodontic Society is being held at Chandigarh from November 6th- November 9th. Chandigarh has been chosen as the venue for this megaevent for the 2nd time after a gap of 14 years. The conference is being organized by the Chandigarh branch of Indian Prosthodontic Society The organizing chairman is Dr Sanjay Kalra Principal BRS Dental College and Hospital Barwala and Dr Nandini Passi is the organizing secretary Presently she is the Vice-Principal Sri Sukhmani Dental College and Hospital Dera Bassi. The Chandigarh branch of Indian Prosthodontics Society also includes leading Prosthodontists from the tricity region as well as the neighbouring states of Punjab and Haryana Dr Mahendra Nadh Reddy President Indian Prosthodontic Society(IPS )Dr Rangarajan, Secretary IPS DR Udey Vir Gandhi Immediate Past President IPS shall be attending the conference. Prosthodontics is one of the important speciality of dentistry that deals with the management of missing teeth and surrounding oral structures.

           Keeping the theme of the conference “ Inspire, Innovate and integrate” in mind a plethora of activities have been scheduled starting with the pre-conference courses being conducted at Sri Sukhmani Dental College Dera Bassi on November 6th by Prosthodontists of international and national repute . November 7th begins with keynote addresses by luminaries of this field followed by the official inauguration of the conference by Hon’ Dr Yogesh Chawla Diector PGIMER Chandigarh at Park Plaza Zirakpur. After this the conference is abuzz with a host of scientific papers, posters and table clinic being presented by academicians and students of this speciality for the next three days. The aim of this conference is to provide the delegates with the unique opportunity of honing their skills with guidance of experienced faculty attending the conference. At the same time we strive to have inspiring scientific deliberations, innovative interactions and motivating solutions to expand the horizons of prosthodontics by stalwarts of Prosthodontics like Dr Massad and Dr Mahesh Verma.

sanjay_kalra nandini_passiThis conference has attracted the highest number of delegate registrations that numbers in excess of 2000 as well as scientific papers and posters till date. Not only does the conference boasts of the record number of delegates but also a series of events being held for the first time. These include a Public Dental Health Awareness Exhibition to be held on November 6th at The Gurukul Sector 20 Panchkula for dissemination of oral health information to the local masses.This exhibition is being inaugrated by President of Indian Prosthodontic Society and will continue for the next three days. A museum on history of Prosthodontics honouring the pioneers of this field is also a first. Apart from this a trade fair displaying both dental and non dental products will be held at the venue for the benefit of the delegates. The entertainment of delegates has been kept in mind and evenings are resplendent with cultural activities, introducing the delegates from the country and around the world to Punjab and its rich cultural heritage. To familiarize the participants with the city beautiful and its pristine surroundings ,tour programmes have been arranged for those interested.

Finally this conference concludes on 9th of November with the valedictory function honouring the performance of the participants to keep them inspired and motivated to work for the betterment of Prosthodontics and healthcare.
