Directed by Jeff Celentano, ‘The Hill’ is a biographical sports drama about baseball player Rickey Hill’s life. It depicts Hill’s passion for the game, though his aspiration to play for the major leagues never materialized. Several leg surgeries and a degenerative spine condition highlighted by a horribly abusive childhood deterred Hill from becoming a bigshot in baseball even though he was born with a natural knack for the game. He played some minor leagues with the Montreal Expos before he retired at age 22 in 1978. ‘The Hill’ captures this journey.
