AIHM celebrated “World Tourism Day”: Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, (an autonomous body under Ministry of tourism, GOI) Chandigarh, a leading institute providing hospitality education celebrated “World Tourism Day“, in the institute premises with immense passion and enthusiasm.

AIHM celebrated "World Tourism Day"

World Tourism Day gives an opportunity to celebrate the importance of tourism, its impact on economy, cultures and the role it plays in fostering sustainable development worldwide. It is an annual observance that is focused on promoting tourism in various parts of the world. In this regard, the institute organised many competitions which were held on Inter College level. Around 200 students from 8 schools and 12 colleges including Air Force School 3BRD, St. Joseph’s Sr. Secondary School, Chandigarh University, Chitkara University, MCM College, DAV College, GGDSD-32C and many more were a part of the event.

To commemorate this occasion, the following competitions were held:

  • Poster Making Competition
  • Best Out of Waste Competition
  • Fresh Flower Arrangement Competition
  • Rangoli Making Competition

A fruit and vegetable carving demonstration was also performed by the second year student, Neha Kanwar who showcased her exceptional carving skills. The spectators were really impressed and awestruck to see the performance.

After the carving activity, a demonstration on Cake Decoration was also held for the participants and numerous techniques were illustrated by chef Khagesh (Hotel Radisson Red, Mohali).

 A cake based on the theme of World Tourism Day was beautifully prepared by our faculty Chef Sucharu and Chef Khagesh (Hotel Radisson Red, Mohali). The spectators found the techniques used by the chef really innovative and eye catching.

The judges for the said event were eminent personalities in their respective fields, Manish Chaudhary, Arvind Gupta, Sheetal Sharma and Meenu Sahai.  The contestants gave their utmost to win the competition, making it difficult for the judges to decide the winner.

One of the students from MCM DAV said “Participating in the competition with students from diverse colleges and the intense competitive spirit filled the atmosphere with joy and happiness.”

Mr. Sitesh Srivastava, Principal of our Institute said “The events give opportunity and a fair chance to each student so that they can show up their creative and imaginative skills to others.”
