- 178 PROCUREMENT CENTERS SET UP FOR SMOOTH PADDY PROCUREMENT
- 8.02 LACS MT OF PADDY ARRIVAL EXPECTED IN DISTRICT THIS YEAR
NewZNew (Bathinda) : Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Dr Basant Garg today said that the paddy procurement will begin in district from October 1 and all arrangements for the procurement are in place. He said that 178 procurement centers have been established across the district. The officers have been directed to make proper arrangements for drinking water, power etc for the farmers who will be visiting the procurement centers. He added that around 8.02 lacs MT of paddy arrival is expected this year.
Appealing the farmers to bring thoroughly dried paddy to the market, Dr Garg said that bringing proper paddy to market was in the larger interest of the farmers. He added that higher moisture content would lead to farmers drying their produce in mandis and the discomfort that follows. He added that the staff deputed at the procurement centers too have been directed to ensure that paddy with higher moisture content is not allowed into the market. He added that the procurement agencies are being given around 42000 bags for paddy.
He added that the District Food and Civil Supplies Office has been designated as the nodal agency for procurement. As per the Milling Policy of Punjab government 227 shellers will mill the paddy for this year. The allotment for same has already been done to the shellers that have completed their milling in time and do not have any pending amount due.
The District Mandi Officer was directed to ensure proper arrangements for the farmers including drinking water, toilets, power etc. heHe directed the officers to ensure that farmers do not face nay problem in mandis.
