- 1000 PATIENTS REGISTERED IN THE SPECIAL OPDs ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE MELA
- PADAM BHUSHAN VAIDYA DEVENDER TRIGUNA LAYS EMPHASIS ON STRENTHENING ACADEMIC FIELD OF AYURVED
NewZNew (Chandigarh) : All India Ayurvedic Congress began here today with a clarion call to restore the supremacy of Ayurveda system and adopt holistic approach to improve the food cycle of humanity.
The Ayurvedic Congress being held in north India for the first time with 2992 delegates from all over the country, BRIC and SAARC nations assembling here for a brain storming session, to mark the beginning of four day Arogya Mela inaugurated by Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Surjit Kumar Jyani, is being held with a sole purpose of evolving a broad based approach to make Ayurveda system a part of life.
Inaugurating the Arogya Mela, Mr. Jyani said it is unfortunate that human race is becoming victim of life style diseases being pleasurly adopted by us. He said that obesity, hypertension, diabetes were becoming epidemic in the country with people refusing to adopt preventive lifestyle. He said that it is matter of great concern that young population is becoming a slave and addict to modern life comforts, electronic gadgetry, stress prone lifestyle inviting all lifestyle diseases and looking its remedies in popping allopathic pills filling the coffers of multinational companies. He said that India, the land of Dhanvantri and Ayurveda has potential to become torchbearer in Ayurveda to provide healing touch to suffering humanity especially in the third world countries, which cannot afford costly medical care system.
Giving a call to Ayurveda doctors to evolve themselves according to the changing requirements of medical science, Mr. Jyani said with the new pesticides, weedicides in the food cycle it was imperative for Ayurveda to develop medicines to prevent the outbreak of new diseases afflicting humanity. He said that Ayurveda has to combine the ancient Ayurveda system of Dhanvantri besides strengthening research and development network to come out with preventive and curative medicines for new diseases like Ebola, swine flu, cancer and come out with cost effective system that could be adopted by masses living in the remote rural areas.
Advising Ayurveda specialists to take the message of Dhanvantri to the remote villages of country, the Punjab Health Minister said that time has come to launch a Ayurvedic movement all over the country and make population a stake holder in this countrywide and worldwide movement.
Speaking on the occasion Padam Bhushan Vaidya Devender Triguna President All India Ayurvedic Congress said that the coming sessions during the three day All India Ayurvedic Congress would work for the expansion and strengthening the academics in the field of Ayurved especially in the Northern part of India. He expressed concern over the inadequate infrastructure in the Government Ayurveda College and Hospital in Patiala. Vaidya Triguna urged the Health Minister to improve the plight of the Ayurvedic College situated in the prestigious town of Patiala known for the excellent academic institutions.
Pradhan Mantri All India Ayurvedic Congress Dr. Sanjeev Goyal speaking on the occasion said that the Arogya Mela inaugurated has 10 OPDs especially planned for the people where they could get free consultation and free treatment from the renowned vaidyas of the country for all the four days from10.30am to 8 pm. As many as 1000 patients registered in these OPDs on the very first day of the event.
Ceo-Shree Dhootapapeshwar and Chairman Reception committee, Mr. Ranjit Puranik in his welcome address emphasized on the need of imparting better network, coordination and collaboration amongst Ayurved Physicians, teachers, students, industry, medicinal plant collectors and cultivators with the government and semi government organizations working in the field of Ayurved. He also said that renowned Ayurved specialists from all over the country especially from Kerala and Western and Eastern India have come to participate in the academic sessions of the forthcoming Ayurvedic Congress in Chandigarh.
President All India Ayurvedic Congress Chandigarh Branch Vaidya Jagjit Singh proposed the vote of thanks.
