NewZNew (Bathinda) : The 1272 cancer patients of Bathinda district have been sanctioned Rs 14.51 cr financial aid from the Chief Minister Cancer Relief Fund.
Giving this information here today the Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Dr Basant Garg said that started in the year 2011, the Chief Minister Cancer Relief Fund provides financial help to the cancer patients upto Rs 1.50 lacs. The amount is directly given to the health institution conducts treatment of the cancer patient and the maximum amount given under it is Rs 1.50 lacs.
He said that the cancer patient or his/her relative can give application at the Cancer Control Cell set up at the civil surgeon office Bathinda. He added that only the residents of Punjab are eligible for this benefit and a copy of voter card/Adhaar Card/Ration Card/Driving Licence/Ration Card may be attached as a proof with application form. Apart from that, a report of biopsy done by laboratory/hospital where he/she was diagnosed with cancer symptoms along with two passport size photographs attested from the doctor giving treatment must be attached, said the deputy commissioner.
The Deputy Director-cum-civil surgeon Bathinda Dr Tejwant Singh said that in the year 2011-12 509 patients were sanctioned the amount, which included 194 men and 315 women. In the year 2013, total 366 patients were sanctioned the financial aid including 139 men and 227 women. Similarly in the year 2014, total 292 people were sanctioned the amount including 113 men and 149 women. He added that till July 2015, 135 patients have been given sanction for the monetary help including 65 men and 70 women.
He added that to provide quality treatment to the cancer patients, the Punjab government has empanelled 16 top hospitals of states wherein 118 cancer drugs are available at controlled rates. The list of 16 empanelled hospitals for this purpose, include AIIMS, PGI, OSWAL Cancer Hospital Ludhiana, Acharya Tulsi Dass Hospital Bikaner, CMC Hospital Ludhiana, Max Hospital Bathinda, Government Medical Colleges of Chandigarh, Patiala, Amritsar and Faridkot, Patel Hospital Jalandhar, Sri Guru Ramdas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Amritsar, Indus Super Specialty Hospital Ajitgarh, Max Healthcare Mohali, Grecian Super Specialty Hospital Mohali and DMC Hospital Ludhiana.
