Colleta Bopoto, a resident of Kadoma, Zimbabwe and a retired soldier had developed persistent pain in the knee, back, & hip since the last five years. In spite of relying on stringent pain killers, Colleta witnessed the deteriorating condition in the quality of her life. She was later diagnosed with a case of bilateral hip arthritis and was advised total hip replacement. With the view to undergo a successful surgery, she decided to visit Dr. Ramesh Sen, Orthopedic Surgeon at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.
Guided by the Ms Kiran, the counsellor for International patients at Fortis Mohali, she was examined by Dr. Sen and diagnosed as a case of degenerative arthritis due to avascular necrosis. Both her hip joints required bilateral hip replacement. The left hip joint replacement was performed first on August 2, 2017, followed by the right-side hip joint replacement three days later. Colleta stayed in the ICU for two days, before she was shifted to the ward, where she was taken care by the proficient hospital teams for five days.
She soon started finding herself more comfortable with daily improvement. The muscle pain & the joint pain which had been there for last 4 years seemed to vanish. She was able to do toileting activities within 10 days after surgery.
After her surgery, Colleta said “I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. R.K. Sen and his team from Fortis Hospital Mohali for the successful hip replacement. I would also like to thank the physiotherapist who is daily assisting me and guiding me through physical exercises. I would also like to thank all the Fortis hospital staff who assisted in my treatment”.
