NewZNew (Bathinda) : The Advanced Cancer Diagnostic Treatment and Research Center Bathinda held a seminar on breast and cervix cancer in women Khalsa College for Women wherein the chief guest was the chairperson Hospital Welfare Section, Red Cross Society Bathinda Mrs Venus Garg. Speaking at the event Mrs Garg said that it was important to hold such awareness camps in schools and colleges so that the young girls were given maximum information on symptoms and causes of cancer.
Mrs Venus Garg, who is wife of the Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg, said that the Advanced Cancer Diagnostic Treatment and Research Center Bathinda is first institute of state specially dedicated to cancer. She added that it was very important to educate women about breast and cervix cancers to help them prevent it and detect it at early onset. She appealed that information like regular medical screening, self breast examination etc should be shared with women on regular basis by holding camps and seminars. She laid emphasis on informing young females studying in schools and colleges. Mrs Garg appreciated the efforts of college management for educating more than 200 girl students about the disease.
The director of Advanced Cancer Diagnostic Treatment and Research Center Bathinda Dr MK Mahajan said that breast and cervix cancer is found more in middle aged women. By educating the young girls, all women coming in their contact are educated about it. He added that early intervention at the onset of disease could be very helpful. Secretary Red Cross Col (retd) Virendra Kumar was also present.
