NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The Punjab Government has mooted a plan to implement E-challan project for Enforcement Wing of Transport Department .
Disclosing this Transport Minister S. Ajit Singh Kohar said that with a view to control traffic, Transport Department is going to implement E-challan system through handheld machines. Through E-challan, online challan will be issued and for impounding offence there will be the facility of collecting fine on the spot itself. Apart from this, if somebody wants to pay the fine afterwards then this could also be done through the online facility as well.
Mr. Kohar further said that all the data of e-challaning will be collected at central data centre and after the operatioinalisation of the E-challaning system the general public will not have to go to the DTO offices for payment of challan . As a result of this challaning system and payment of challan will be simplified. He told that this project is proposed to be implemented on PPP model through Punjab Infrastructure DevelopmentBoard (P.I.D.B)
