NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Prof. JB Dilawari, an eminent Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist have joined Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali as Director, Department of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Dilawari has been Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist, UK and Professor and Head Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at PGI, Chandigarh.
With over 35 years of professional experience, Dr Dilawari was trained in Medicine and Gastroenterology in London University Hospitals, UK and has worked with pioneers in Gastroenterology such as Sir Francis Avery Jones (founder father of British Gastroenterology), J.J.Misiewicz (President of British Society of Gastroenterology and editor of GUT), Peter Cotton and Christopher Williams (eminent ERCP and colonoscopy specialists). He has also worked with the renowned Hepatologists Dame Sheila Sherlock and Roger William.
Professor Dilawari has extensive experience in clinical gastroenterology, hepatology and therapeutic endoscopy.
A recipient of many honours and awards, Dr Dilawari has been WHO fellow for collaborative study on Hepatitis E and DAAD fellow at Hamburg university hospital, Germany. He held a prestigious post of a Commissioner, Commonwealth Commission, UK. He was honoured with the NHS UK merit award for Life for excellence in clinical medicine and the National Academy of Medical Sciences Award for research in portal hypertension. He is the proud receipient of the Indian Council of Medical Research Award and the Indian society of gastroenterology Award. Dr Dilawari has been Advisor, Indian council of medical research (ICMR) and President, Indian association for study of liver (INASL).
Professor Dilawari has been invitee speaker to prestigious international Medical institutions including Harvard medical school, Stanford university, Yale university, University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), National Institute of Health (NIH) Bethesda. He has also presented and published over 200 papers in international conferences and in peer review journals.
Dr. Dilawari has served on the editorial board of Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Sydney and Indian Journal of Gastroenterology. He has also been a referee for several prestigious journals including Gastroenterology, GUT, and Hepatology. He has organised national and international conferences and has been examiner to the Royal colleges UK (MRCP) , and for MD and DM in India.
