NewZNew (Bathinda) : The farmers and commission agents of district will not face any problem regarding paddy procurement and they are being provided all kind of requisite facilities in the grain markets. The Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Dr Basant Garg said this while on a visit to the grain market Bathinda today.
Giving a patient hearing to the problems of farmers and commission agents, the Deputy Commissioner Bathinda said that the government was committed to ensure smooth procurement and lifting of the paddy. After talking to the farmers in Bathinda grain market he directed the officers to ensure that the procured paddy was timely lifted in order to avoud crowding of produce in grain market.
Dr Basant Garg added that six agencies and private millers are procuring paddy in the district. He directed the procurement agencies to ensure that the procured paddy’s payment was done timely as per the government rules. He appealed the farmers to bring dried paddy to the grain markets so that the procurement is not delayed and farmers too do not face any problem. He added that in markets grievance redressal committees have been formed so that the problems received in mandis are resolved timely.
District Food and Supplies Controller Mr J S Kalha said that till Oct 23 total 280462 MT of paddy had arrived in different grain markets of the district of which 262552 MT has been procured. In last season total 802748 MT of paddy’s arrival was recorded.
Till Oct 23 Pungrain had procured 53781 tonnes, Markfed had procured 65962 tonnes, Punsup 64782 tonnes, Punjab Warehouse 32648 tonnes, Punjab Agro 28388 tonnes, Food Corporation of India 14857 tonnes and the private millers procured 130 tonnes of paddy.
