newznew (S A S Nagar) : On successful completion of 7 years of Fortis Bloom IVF Centre, many couples, who became parents post their treatment at the clinic, celebrated the milestone along with the entire medical team today. The highlight of the celebrations was a colourful fashion show where parents take the ramp along with their little ones. The doctors’ team also joined the jubilations and put their best foot forward. The event was graced by Fortis Bloom Scientific Directors Dr Hrishikesh Pai and Dr Nandita Palshetkar, who are India’s renowned infertility specialists, along with Dr Pooja Mehta, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynaecology who is leading the IVF team at Mohali.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Hrishikesh Pai said, “It is a great feeling that we have been able to treat patients here with immaculate success since seven years now. In order to empower doctors in the region, we keep on organising simulation programmes where gynaecologists of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh are trained in the stimulation techniques through monthly workshops. This provides convenience to patients as they only have to visit us for ‘egg pick up’ and ‘embryo transfer’ procedures. I am happy to share that Bloom IVF has been able to treat patients over the length & breadth of India through our network of 9 units.”
While expressing concern over rising infertility & need to reach out, Dr Nandita Palshetkar said, “We have introduced low-cost IVF for the underprivileged sections of society that comprise BPL card holders.”
One of the couples present on the occasion, Mohali’s Mrs & Mr Aggarwal* (name changed to protect identity) shared their experience: “We were married for 9 nine years and had been trying to conceive. We were left disappointed & frustrated with 3 IVF failures at different centres and 2 missed abortions. It is then when we decided to give it another shot at Fortis Bloom. We are happy that we took that chance as they finally conceived. Today, we are a happy & complete family with a healthy 3 year toddler.”
Due to sedentary lifestyle today, almost 15% of all couples in India struggle to conceive naturally. Male infertility is rising too. “Poor sperm count is the most common cause. It is the main cause for 30% of total infertility cases. Over the years, we have added many modern and effective techniques like ICSI, TESA, PICSI and IMSI that are used to benefit patients with successful parenthood,” said Dr Pooja Mehta.

People used to be apprehensive and anxious. But over the years, they’ve become more aware and most of the times do a lot of research before approaching us.
