NewZNew (Chandigarh) : It was an experience extraordinaire for the lovely lady guests of Hometel Hotel as they joined its Executive chef to indulge in a never experienced and extremely inciting exciting activity – the Cake Mixing Ceremony, which is a traditional way of ushering in the Christmas Season. The ceremony began by mixing colorful nuts, dates, plums, sweet ginger, black current, orange peel, cashews and honey all together in a heady concoction of branded liquor.
Considered to be a harbinger of good tidings and happiness, the traditional cake mixing ceremony is a much celebrated concept in European nations. The ceremony marks the beginning of the New Year celebrations and is believed to bring good luck for the coming year. On Christmas Eve, the mixture will be blended with cake batter to make the delicious giant plum cake.
Executive Chef Bidesh Biswas, Hometel, Chandigarh said, “Our cake this year is going to be special. We are adding all varieties of nuts, juices, and spirits to prepare the dough for the cake. We have used cashew nuts, walnuts, apricots, figs, cherries, dates and spirits like brandy and rum to give that heady flavor”.
The vibrant afternoon was soaked in happiness as the excited invitees made merry while mixing the ingredients. Dressed up in aprons, chef cap and gloves, one of the regular guest at the hotel remarked, “I am very excited to be a part of this unique Cake Mixing Ceremony in Chandigarh. I am almost feeling like a child and getting joy out of this unforgettable experience.”
