Declared National Winner in the Education Vertical
NewZNew (S A S Nagar) : The Mohali campus of the Indian School of Business (ISB) was adjudged winner at the first Times of India-Honeywell Smart Building Awards for 2015. Nearly 2000 installations across Indian in nine categories were assessed, based on the first of its kind Smart Building Evaluation Score developed by Honeywell based on their use of technologies to offer a Green, Safe and Productive Environment.
ISB was declared winner in the education segment for its sustainability and energy efficient and safety initiatives. Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, was Chief Guest at the function and felicitated the winners.
The award is testimony to the several pioneering measures by ISB to make both its campuses IN in Mohali and Hyderabad sustainable and energy efficient. The Mohali campus has introduced several initiatives such as making efficient use of solar energy, optimal use of day light thanks to the design and architecture, LED fixtures that reduce energy usage, geothermal system for air-conditioning which uses no water, rainwater harvesting, and increasing green cover. The Mohali campus has also been awarded “IGBC’s LEED INDIA GOLD” rating by LEED India and has earlier won awards at the NDTV Grundfos @Mission_Energy Challenge 2014, and featured on ET Times Now Power of Shunya competitions.
Expressing happiness on the award, Maj Gen TPS Bakhshi, SM (Retd), Director – Business Affairs, ISB, said, “Sustainability is a way of life at ISB. We have always believed in using energy more efficiently in an environmentally responsible manner and reduce our carbon footprint. I am happy to note that our efforts at the Mohali campus have started showing results and we are being acknowledged as a clean, green and futuristic campus by all.”
Spread over 70 acres the Mohali campus of the ISB has been designed by New York based Perkins Eastman. The buildings adhere to the latest international building code and educational-facility-operating standards. The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art learning infrastructure – lecture theatres, a 500-seater auditorium, high definition video conferencing facilities to enable collaboration across locations, seamless access to digital and online library resources, cashless payments through use of smart cards, and more. It also boasts of world-class amenities, including fully serviced apartments for students and faculty, cafeterias and cafes, a host of sports and recreational facilities, and support services such as banking, communication, convenience stores, medical facilities, etc.
