NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Ever dreamt of getting an opportunity to enjoy elusive royal luxuries for a Nawabi feel? The wait is over as JW Marriott Chandigarh is going to give the residents of Chandigarh the opportunity to experience it. From October 23 to November 01, 2015, Saffron at JW Marriott Chandigarh is organizing the ‘Rampuri Food Festival’ serving exotic Rampuri dishes under three menus to choose from- the Rampuri Veg Menu, the Rampuri Non Veg Menu and the Rampuri A la Carte. This will be served for dinner, from 07:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
Nestled adjacent to the picturesque Nanital, the royal state of Rampur boasts of a culinary legacy second to none. While it may not be as well known as some of the other royal cuisines like the Awadhi or Sindhi owing to the kingdom of Rampur being smaller and lesser know, but the Rampuri cuisine can giving the popular ones a run for their money.
The rich, spicy taste of delicious Rampuri dishes coupled with its enchanting aroma will entrap you and transport you instantly to the times of Nawabs and Begums. The ‘Rampuri Food Festival’ is a chance to be a part of discovering the cuisine long lost, yet preserved with a chosen few.
For giving the Chandigarh residents the exclusive opportunity of enjoying royal Rampuri delicacies, JW Marriott Chandigarh has invited Chef Rehman, an authority on Rampuri cuisine and founder of Kitchenett E Awadh. Chef Rehman is one of the select few who have learned history, secrets and proper recipes of origin of the Rampuri dishes, having had the pleasure of interacting with the royalty and gaining their patronage and guidance in dishing out totally authentic and royal dishes. “Punjabis take their food seriously which is why I consider cooking for this region interesting and challenging at the same time. I have tried to bring in the traditional dishes or Rampur where a lot of traditional spices are used to make the food aromatic and taste equisitely. I am sure this will suit the palate of Punjab,” says Chef Rehman.
“We love to experiment with food and aim to offer our patrons with authentic dishes of every region. This is just an effort in making it possible to bring the world on the plate. Another reason behind hosting the Rampur Food Festival during this time of the year is the festive season. We wanted to offer a cuisine that can match with the occasion” said Pallav Singhal, Director Food and Beverages.
For the JW Marriott Chandigarh ‘Rampuri Food Festival’, Chef Rehman has come up with 3 interesting menus – from the royal kitchen of Rampur- Vegetarian, from the royal kitchen of Rampur- Non-Vegetarian and from the royal kitchen of Rampur- a La Carte. The Vegetarian menu is offering Paneer Peelimirch Tikka, Lazeez Aloo Tukri, Muttur Ke Tikki, Lazeez Aloo Katli, Shaljam Zafrani and Chukander-E-Afroz to name a few. On the Non-Vegetarian menu, the chef has listed exotic dishes like Chappli Kebab, Mahi Dum, Mehtabi Paya, Dal Aswad, Ande Ka Halwa etc. For those wanting the best of both worlds, the ala carte menu has choicest offerings to relish.
