One of its kind Initiative among private schools to enable job ready youth at the school level

NewZNew (Chandigarh) : LabourNet Services Pvt. Ltd., one of the leading social enterprise in India and a trusted training partner of NSDC has signed an MOU with private schools in Chandigarh to implement the NSQF vocational skilling program in school as per CBSE guidelines by LabourNet. The vocational skilling program has been signed by top 5 schools in Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali and Moga to skill IX standard students under various trades including IT/ITES. The curriculum is designed to bridge the gap between classroom based education and employability. All the courses are integrated in the syllabus and no extra time required for students to undergo vocational skilling classes. Students will get certification from the respective affiliated board.

Gayathri Vasudevan, Co-founder and CEO of LabourNet opines, “This is a major development in the history of vocational education among private schools in the region to implement vocational courses into their syllabus. We have trained almost 10776 students in 227 government schools of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Kerala from 2013-2015 fiscal, under beauty & wellness trade. We welcome and encourage private schools to implement vocational education as part of their syllabus and equip students to earn their livelihood in order to be independent. Vocational education is one of the critical element of ‘Skill India’ mission to train youth to be job ready and skill competent.”

Some of the top schools in the region who have signed MOU with LabourNet to implement vocational education from September 2015 are St Teresa Convent School (CBSE) Sec 25 Panchkula, Guru Nanak Khalsa Sr Sec School (CBSE) Sector 30-B Chandigarh, DC Model Sr Sec School (CBSE) Sector 7, Panchkula, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public Sr Sec School (PSEB first private school) and Vill Jhindra, Moga (Punjab). NSQF vocational courses are central Government scheme for Vocationalization of school education under MHRD.

The vocational courses of NSQF has multiple qualification levels, Level 1 to level 4 for classes 9 to 12 and 200 Hrs each year. The levels are defined based on competencies required for the sector and also are mapped to equivalent academic standards.
