Manpreet Badal wishes ‘Akali Mukat’ Punjab in 2015

manpreettNewZNew (Chandigarh) : People’s Party of Punjab chief Manpreet Singh Badal today wished deliverance of the Punjabis from the Akali in the new year as that was the best way to pave the way to make the state free from the menace of drugs.

He said the Akali Dal had become  panicky  as the alliance partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party, went in for a major initiative to launch campaign in the state against drugs. He said drugs and Akalis had virtually become synonymous in the state as the drug  smuggling could not proliferate without patronage from the rulers. The situation had worsened during the last few years in the state with the drug menace having taken the form of an epidemic.

“Akali Dal President and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal suddenly announced the decision to stage protests at four places in the border areas which were essentially against the Border Security Force. The party backtracked later fearing backlash. Here is the party that had come into power on the development slogan but has now gone back to the Panthic agenda. Not that anything is wrong with that agenda but it is the sincerity of the Akali Dal which is under question as the party now wants to  retrieve its lost support base by going back to this agenda which is nothing but sheer opportunism”, he added.

Manpreet cautioned the people against being  misled again by the rank opportunist Akali leadership as the party government  had only failure to its credit during the last more than seven and a half year rule. He said the policy matters had been dictated by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir and they should have the courage to own their failure.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was an advocate of good governance but the Punjab government in which the BJP was the junior partner was characterised by not only non-governance but also corruption. The major issue that  had now come to haunt the Punjabis was the menace of drugs and it was for this reason that the people waiting for the day when they would be able to throw out this government. He made it clear that it was his firm resolve to translate this hope of the people into reality.

He reiterated that the state was heading towards early elections and Punjab would be free from the Akali misrule in the new year.
