NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor of Chandigarh launched the monthly e-Newsletter of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh here today in the presence of Smt. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Commissioner, MCC.
This e-Newsletter will be a medium of interaction between the public and Municipal Corporation. This will give all details regarding the ongoing works of MC besides highlighting the activities of MC.
Briefing about the newsletter the Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh is striving to provide basic infrastructure facilities to the residents of the city and this Newsletter will be a powerful medium of interaction between the residents of Chandigarh and Municipal Corporation.
She also informed about the consent regarding the depositing Rs. 98 crore with the Government of Punjab from the Municipal Corporation funds for augmentation of Water Supply Scheme from Kajauli head works to SAS Nagar, Mohali. She said that a letter in this regard from the Chandigarh Administration has been received recently and the MC will also take up the construction of additional intake structure to be executed by the Municipal Corporation for Water Supply under the scheme.
She further informed that the cost incurred to be proposed on these works will be sent to the UT Administration to take up it further with the Government of India for providing more funds in this scheme.
During the launch Commissioner informed that the Municipal Corporation has made an attempt for public participation by fixing the visiting hours from 10.30 am to 11.30 am wherein the general public can visit the dog sterilization centre, sector 38 (west) and can witness the process of catching and releasing of dogs. This process of releasing and operating of dogs is being done under the supervision of doctors from Animal Husbandry Department, UT, Chandigarh. The aim of this initiative is to involve general public in the whole dog sterilization process.
Sh. Rajiv Gupta, Joint Commissioner, Sh. Mukesh Anand, Chief Engineer and other concerned officers were also present during the programme.
