NewZNew (Chandigarh) : A Dance & Fancy Dress Competition – ‘Yes I am a Rockstar’ was Organised by Rockstar Academy in Association with The British School, Sec-70, Mohali at the School’s premises. Both Junior & Seniors students showed their talent in the Mega Dance competition. The show began with a Fancy Dress Competition for Juniors. The show was compered by Sameer Mahajan Founder Owner of Rockstar Academy.
“We had made the programme quite entertaining as the solo and duet dance performances were interspersed with group dances which kept the tempo going. ‘Yes I am Rockstar’ is the Annual Competition of the Academy’s students where they Get an opportunity to show what they have learnt at the Academy in front of an audience that comprises mainly of proud parents.”
It is noteworthy that one of the Academy’s students who is 95 per cent blind also gave a very good Bhangra Performance. What’s more, Neelam Puri, a 60-Year-Old renowned Punjabi Film Actor & Dance trainer in US, who has been teaching since 35 years in that country had specially come to learn and perform in this show.
As many as 300 students showed their dancing skills in both Solo & Duet Dances of different Genres. The Seniors also walked the ramp in a Fashion Show. The event was Judged by Mumbai Based Choreographer & Jury from T.V Film & Fashion Industry Seniors performed on Bollywood Numbers like Chaar Shanivar , Hip Hop was showcased on Get up Jawani & a Hip Hop Medley by Juniors of The British School, Mohali too was quite entertaining.
Juniors showed their prowess in Western Dance on Baby I Like It, Bolly-Hop on Nach Meri Jaan was held and a Free Style Medley by Seniors of The British School, Mohali was also organized. The Duet Dance Competition saw Juniors performing Selfie Dance in Bolly + Freestyle Genre, an Afgan Medley – Belly + FreeStyle by Seniors & Western Dance on Dil Dhadakne do by Juniors were the attractions.
The Solo Dance Competition for 9 years to 14 years included Jaguar – Bhangra , Sun Sathiya – Contemporary, Gallan Gudiyan – Bolly Freestyle and Nachaa Farate Naal – Bolly Hop. The little ones between 4 to 8 years impressed in Solo Dance Competition. The Duet Dance – Salsa (Twins), Sun Sathiya – A Contemporary dance by Seniors & Bhangra by Seniors made the audience get up and give a thunderous applause. In the end a Prize Distribution was held in which Prizes to 1st, 2nd, 3rd position holders were given & Consolation Prizes were also given.
