Once you try out the new menu of Oregano at JW Marriott Chandigarh, words like ‘Delizioso’ and Splendido’ (delicious and splendid for you!), will roll out from your mouth of their own accord. So entangled will your taste buds be in the ‘Squisita’ (exquisite) flavours and aroma of the Italian delicacies on offer that some of these words will start coming to you of their own as you start drifting into the streets of yore renowned for giving to the world some of the most popular and delicious of dishes like risotto, pasta, pizza etc.

The new menu comprises antipasti (starters), le nostre insalate (salads), minestre e zuppe (soups), risotti, primi piatti (pasta), secondi (main course), contorni (sides) and le nostre pizze (pizza), with each of these food categories getting new and exciting additions while retaining the best from the previous menu. In starters, you can try out the fritto di verdure e panissa con salsa al gorgonzola piccante (v) (deep fried mix vegetables and chick pea “panissa” with spicy gorgonzola cheese dip) or the gamberi indiavolati (sauteed prawns with capers, pinenuts bell peppers and tangy chilly sauce). Similarly in risotti, the risotto ai frutti di mare (seafood risotto) is sure to win over many admirers. For the lovers of primi piatti (pasta), the gnocchi di patate con salsa di zafferano, asparagi e filetti di pomodoro (v) (potatoes “gnocchi” with saffron cream sauce, asparagus and tomato fillet) or the spaghetti all’ aragosta e calamari (spaghetti sauteed with lobster, squids, kalamata olives, lightly spicy tomato sauce and green peas) can be interesting options.

The secondi (main course) offers some sumptuous options like verdure gratinate ai tre formaggi (v) (oven baked mixed vegetables with three cheeses), petto di pollo alla milanese con insalatina di pomodori e menta (pan fried breaded chicken breast “Milanese style” with tomatoes and mint salad), agnello in panure al pistacchio con riduzione di aceto balsamico (oven baked pistacchio crusted Australian lamb rack with balsamic reduction), etc.

One of the most precious offerings to the world from Italy is the ‘pizza’. As you sift through the menu to reach the segment le nostre pizze (pizza), we suggest you try out pizza pugliese (v) (tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh onions and shaved parmesan cheese) or the pizza tirolese (tomato sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms, parmesan cheese and speck) to get the true taste of Italy. Also worth gorging upon are pizza alle melanzane e provolone (v) (fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, grilled eggplants, roasted garlic, shaved provolone cheese) and the   pizza uova e salsiccia (tomato sauce, mozzarella, pork sausage, hardboiled egg and onion) which will again lead you to mumbling out some Italian praises like ‘Stupendo’ and ‘Superbo’!!
