Nicky Byrne was born Nicholas Bernard James Adam McGarry Byrne Jr. on October 9, 1978, in Dublin, Ireland. He was born to Nicholas and Yvonne Byrne, and he has two siblings. Nicky’s father passed away in 2009. Byrne attended secondary school at Pobalscoil Neasáin.
Football Career
The teams Byrne played football for include St. Kevin’s Boys and Home Farm, Dublin-based teams. He turned professional and became a goalkeeper for Leeds United Football Club in 1995, and the team won the FA Youth Cup in 1997. Byrne was at Leeds for two years; his contract expired in the summer of 1997. He joined Shelbourne Football Club after playing in a reserve game for Scarborough Football Club and a trial game for Cambridge United Football Club. Byrne continued his football career with Cobh Ramblers Football Club and St. Francis Football Club, teams in the League of Ireland.
