Chandigarh, 18 August, 2015: Continuing with the “Polythene free – 26 Mandi” drive, under the directions of SDM(East),Sh. Danish Ashraf, a joint team of the Inspectors food & supply and Sanitation Inspectors made surprise checks in Sector-26 Sabzi Mandi, Bapu Dham Colony and Apni Mandi at Sector-29.
The cleanliness drive started a week ago is leaving good impact as the use of polythene has been reduced to great extend. Today, only 25 kg of polythene carry bags have been seized from 3 places against the earlier figure of 3.60 Quintals & 18.40 Quintals respectively.
19 challans have been issued to the dhaba owners, Rehri owners, vegetable vendors for garbage and instantiation. Awareness posters have been fixed at different locations of Sabzi Mandi-26 for educating people about not to use plastic/polythene carry bags in co-ordination with Market Committee.
Sh. Danish Ashraf has again emphasised that he is committed to make 26 Mandi and area under the jurisdiction of SDM (East) polythene free and those who found erring will not be spared.
