- PWD MINISTER GIVES MESSAGE OF BROTHERHOOD, HARMONY
- ANNOUNCES POLICE PUBLIC SCHOOL TO RS 1.5 LACS, MAHANT GURBANTA DASS SCHOOL AND SCHOOL PARTICIPATING IN CULTURAL SHOW RS 50000 EACH

NewZNew (Bathinda) : The district level Republic Day celebrations were held with pomp and show today at the Multipurpose Stadium wherein the Minister for PWD, Defence Services Welfare and Grievances, Government of Punjab, Mr Janmeja Singh Sekhon hoisted the tricolor.
In his address to the people of district Mr Sekhon said that in order to realize the dreams of our martyrs every individual will have to contribute towards nation’s development in one way or the other. He said that the Punjab government was making all efforts to ensure development of the state and SAD-BJP alliance has gifted the bets governance to people of state.
Mr Sekhon said that the Bathinda district has seen unprecedented growth. The seven national highway projects of four and six laning have been started at a cost of Rs 3342 cr,
which majorly includes Bathinda-Chandigarh Road. He added that for the meritorious students the Punjab government has started six residential schools where students securing more than 80 percent marks in matriculation are given free education, hostel, food and coaching for the competition exams. Besides this another Rs 60 cr has been spent on setting up Advanced Cancer Diagnostic Center on Mansa Road whose OPD has already been started.
Earlier the PWD Minister inspected the parade. The Deputy Commissioner Dr Basant Garg and the SSP MR Inder Mohan Singh Bhatti accompanied him during parade inspection. Later, the platoons of Punjab Police, Punjab Home Guards, NCC, Scouts and Guides presented a spectacular march past and gave salutation to the Chief Guest. Tableaux related to 16 different government departments were also presented highlighting the development these departments have ushered in. the school students also presented a cultural program kindling patriotic spirit in children. MR Sekhon honored the freedom fighters as well as people who have significantly contributed in respective fields. Students securing merit in sports and academics were also honored.
The PWD Miniser Mr Sekhon declared holiday in all educational institutes on January 27. He also announced prize of Rs 1.5 lacs for the Police Public School, Rs 50000 for Mahant Gurbanta Dass School for Deaf and Dumb Children and another Rs 50000 for the schools participating in cultural events. He distributed sewing machines and tricycles to the needy.
The district and sessions judge Mr Tejwinder Singh, MLA Mr Darshan Singh Kotfatta, DIG M Amar Singh Chahal, BJP district president Mr Parminder Goyal and other personalities were also present.
