Under the aegis of Shri Krishna Priya Ju Sankirtan Mandal, the Vrindavan Praktya Utsav and Shrimad Bhagwat Katha are being organized at the Mela Ground in Sector 34, which will continue until October 3. Renowned speaker Sandeep Chugh gracefully conducted the stage. Pandit Rasraj Ji Maharaj and Shyam Singh Chauhan Ji Maharaj, Nij Mandir Khatu Shyam, also attended the Katha.

At the beginning of the Katha, narrator Shri Indresh Upadhyay Maharaj extended Dussehra greetings to the entire Chandigarh community. Today, the Katha included Giriraj Pujan, and Shri Girdhar Lal Ji was offered 56 bhog by the devotees.

The sixth day of the Katha began with great pomp and show with Aarti and Hari hymns. Afterward, world-renowned Katha narrator, Param Pujya Shri Indresh Maharaj, narrated the story of the 56 bhog offerings to Lord Krishna. He emphasized that we should devote time to God in our busy schedules and worship Him.

He explained that Lord Krishna lifted Mount Govardhan to save the people of Braj from the wrath of Lord Indra. After this, he had to remain hungry for seven days, after which he was fed 56 dishes for eight hours a day. This tradition of ’56 bhog offerings’ began since then.

Maharaj Ji said that Ravana is not a person, Ravana is a nature, just like Ravana used to stand on two boats, on one side he worshipped Shiva and on the other side he had a deceitful nature, and Ravana’s end was also not good, till today Ravana is being burnt, hence keep only one as your target and never bring duplicity in your behavior and thoughts, stay on one side for a good end.

Shri Ram gave Ravana many hints, but Ravana failed to understand them. Similarly, in Kaliyuga, humans receive many hints, and only a devotee of the true saints and a devotee of devotion can understand them and renounce their negative tendencies.

Describing the character of the blind devotee, Maharaj Ji explained that people do not come to listen to the Katha on their own accord. The blessings of the Katha are bestowed only on those who are pleased with Kishori Ji, and the hymns of their previous lives also draw them to their next lives. Those who came to listen to the entire Katha to the hymns of Radha Rani could not stop themselves from dancing. The entire pandal was transformed into Vrindavan and Barsana Dham. The Dandiya festival was also celebrated with joy on the sixth day of the Katha.

Munish Bajaj, the coordinator, said that a free langar has been arranged for all the devotees who came to listen to the story by Gori Shankar Seva Dal, Sachin Goyal from Gupta Plywood, Chandigarh and the President of Mata Mansa Devi Seva Trust and with the help of some devotees, tea and sweet water stalls are also being set up.
