State level Basant fair in Ferozepur on 10 and 11 February 2024 : Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to promote the traditional and heritage fairs of the state to the country and the world and to further increase the interest of the people towards these fairs. A state level kite flying competition and Basant Mela is being organized under the theme “Sabh Se Bada Ptangbaaz” in Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University at Ferozepur on 10th and 11th February 2024, as part of the series of fairs started in the state by Punjab Government.

Giving information in this regard, Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs of Punjab Miss Anmol Gagan Mann said that Ferozepur’s Basant Mela is celebrated with great fanfare and the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has organized this fair at the national and international level. Efforts are being made to promote it, for which kite flying competitions are being conducted during the spring fair. He said that a website has been launched for registration to participate in the kite fair and for other information regarding the fair.

Cabinet Minister Miss Anmol Gagan Mann said that during this fair, there will be various kite flying competitions and prizes of lakhs of rupees will be given to the first place winners. She said that the first place winner in the men’s kite flying competition will be given a prize of Rs 1 lakh and similarly the first place winner in the women’s kite flying competition will also be given a prize of Rs 1 lakh. She further said that among the boys and girls aged 10 to 18 years, the winners will be given prizes of 25 thousand rupees each. Apart from this, the winners of NRI category kite competitions will be given a prize of 51 thousand rupees.

She said that the most attractive competition in the kite flying competitions will be the “Sabh Se Bada Ptangbaaz ” and the winner of this competition will be given a prize of Rs 2 lakh.

Traditional food stalls will be set up in this fair and folk singers will add color to the atmosphere of the fair through their songs. He appealed to the residents of the state to participate in this fair as much as possible.

Department Principal Secretary Rakhi Gupta Bhandari, Deputy Commissioner Ferozepur Rajesh Dhiman and Director Neeru Katyal were also specially present on the occasion of launching the website related to the fair.
