All That Went Down in The Gilded Age Season 2 Finale
The Gilded Age Season 2 concluded with a lot of drama, grand victories, emotional turns, and high-society power plays. If you want a quick, entertaining refresher, here’s what happened:Bertha Russell was determined to make a serious impression in the elite social circles of New York and she succeeded. Bertha managed to accomplish a major coup after engaging in a fierce battle with the influential Mrs. Astor in what the fans liked to refer to as the “opera war.” Bertha succeeded in getting the Duke of Buckingham to come to the opening night at the newly constructed Metropolitan Opera. That single action turned the tables in her direction and raised her social status to new heights.
Marian Brook at last mastered her love life. After breaking off her engagement with Dashiell Montgomery, she listened to her heart and shared a kiss with Larry Russell. Their attraction had been growing throughout the season, so the kiss felt like the start of something meaningful.
The Gilded Age Season 2 Ending Explained
Ada Brook, typically under the shadow of her vocal sister Agnes, took her turn in the limelight. She inherited a sizable sum that not only made her financially independent but also altered the household dynamics at home. It was satisfying to see Ada in charge for a number of times.
Peggy Scott encountered some roadblocks in her career in journalism. Working at The New York Globe was not all she expected it to be, and she began to wonder whether or not this was the right path for her. Her narrative indicated just how challenging it was for a Black woman trying to get her message heard in 1880s America.
Things were not all smooth sailing at the Van Rhijn home either. Financial hardship began mounting, and even the staff wasn’t immune to the pressure. The one-time stable family had to contend with the fear of drastic change, challenging their flexibility in a changing world. By the end of Season 2, it left audiences with an equal measure of closure and a hint of curiosity.
