Three-Day 46th Chandigarh Sangeet Sammelan Held: On the final day of the three-day 46th Annual Chandigarh Music Conference, organized by the Indian National Theatre in collaboration with the Durga Das Foundation, Dr. Chetna Pathak presented her Hindustani music to the audience. She captivated the listeners with the melodious waves of her singing, earning much appreciation from the audience.
Dr. Chetna Pathak is an internationally renowned Hindustani classical vocalist of the Kirana Gharana and a distinguished disciple of Padma Vibhushan awardee, the esteemed Dr. Prabha Atre. She is one of the leading figures of the Kirana Gharana, and her musical journey began at the age of eight under the guidance of her mother Madna and father Ramnarayan. Chetna has also had the privilege of learning Tappa singing from the Gwalior Gharana maestro, Pandit Bala Saheb Poonchwale. She is an A-grade artist in both classical vocal and light classical vocal (Thumri, Dadra, Tappa) categories, accredited by All India Radio.
During the program, Vinod Lele accompanied the artist on the tabla, and Paromita Mukherjee played the harmonium. They shared that the conference was organized for all music lovers with free entry.
On this occasion, Indian National Theatre President Anil Nehru and Secretary Vinita Gupta expressed their admiration for the city residents’ love for classical music, as demonstrated throughout the three-day conference. They conveyed that this series of music conferences will continue to uphold its tradition in the future. They also thanked all the artists for enhancing the beauty of the event.
