NewZNew (Chandigarh) : A seminar on the need for ‘Women Empowerment’ through vocational courses was organised by Tressed –Up International Academy (TIA), Manimajra, Chandigarh. The Chief Guest was Mrs. Poonam Sharma, Mayor, Chandigarh (UT). Ms. Gurbax Rawat, Deputy Mayor, Chandigarh was Guest of Honour. The event also saw announcement of ‘15-days’ free workshops by the Academy’ to help women come out and see the varied opportunities available, if she chooses a career in the field of Hair & Beauty Industry. The workshops will be held at the NAC Manimajra and VIP Road Zirakpur branches of TIA.
Mrs. Poonam Sharma also addressed the women who attended the seminar today. She emphasized on how women could easily empower themselves through attending vocational courses , which in turn will help them stand on their own two feet and become independent. She complimented TIA for doing yeoman’s service in providing courses that helped women become successful through skills’ development. She said, “Tressed-Up International Academy can get in touch with me and I will facilitate financial help of Rs 15000 and Transportation Expenses of Rs 1000 for every female student from Economically Weaker Section, pursuing a vocational course here. The Academy can collaborate with us as we are already following this model with some other organisations that are working on women empowerment.”
The seminar saw demonstrations by technical staff of TIA of how make-overs are given in the area of beauty and hair. Ms. Heena Khan, CEO, Tressed-Up International Academy, said at the seminar, “We noticed that there was no option available for women who wanted to do hair, beauty, skin etc related career oriented courses in the tri-city, so we started this Academy which has all facilities to teach these vocational courses to desirous candidates. Our USP is as an emphasis on practical training. We have ultra modern hi-tech labs And Cibtac & Cidesco (UK) certified staff. For the first time Air Brush make-up will be taught on International machines in the region. There are capsules which will equip students get jobs abroad.”
The audience of women was apprised about how the Beauty & Wellness Industry is fast emerging as a major employer of manpower in India & Abroad. There is a demand of Make-up artists in beauty shows, TV serials, Events among other avenues. Even those who want to learn Saloon Management or Train to upgrade already running Saloons & Spa centres will benefit from the courses on offer.
Mr. Mehboob Khan, Director, Tressed Up Chain of Saloons (Tricity) said at the seminar, “International Diploma Courses like Masters in Cosmetology, Post graduate diploma in Cosmetology, Advance diploma in Cosmetology, diploma in Cosmetology, a 6-month certificate course in beauty & hair designing and 3-months Certificate course in Body Spa/ Nail Art & Extension/ Professional make up are available at TIA.”
