Tyler Perry is regarded as one of the most successful African-American filmmakers in history. He is a screenwriter, playwright, author, director, and actor who gained fame with his character Madea, a sassy grandmother first introduced in his 2000 play ‘I Can Do Bad All by Myself.’

Perry portrays Madea, who has appeared in several other plays and films, including ‘Diary of a Mad Black Woman,’ ‘Madea’s Family Reunion,’ and ‘Madea Goes to Jail.’ One of his notable works outside of the Madea franchise is the comedy-drama series ‘House of Payne,’ which premiered in 2007, along with the films ‘Daddy’s Little Girls’ and ‘Why Did I Get Married.’ In 2021, he was honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his charitable contributions. 1. Beauty in Black Season 2 (September 11, 2025)

“Beauty in Black” has been renewed by Netflix for a second season. Perry returns as director and showrunner. Two women, one operating a haircare business and the other working in the adult entertainment sector, are at the center of the narrative. Taylor Polidore Williams as Kimmie, Crystle Stewart as Mallory, Debbi Morgan as Olivia, Amber Reign Smith as Rain, Ricco Ross as Horace, Steven G. Norfleet as Charles, and Richard Lawson as Norman are among the cast members who are most likely to return. The second season will premiere on September 11, 2025.
2. Zatima Season 4 (September 11, 2025)

Perry’s comedy-drama series “Zatima” has been renewed for a fourth season by BET+. Filming started in Atlanta in June. Devale Ellis as Zachary “Zac” Taylor, Crystal, and other anticipated returning cast members Guyviaud Joseph as Tony, Ameer Baraka as Jeremiah, Remington Hoffman as Bryce, and Renee Hayslett as Fatima Wilson. On September 11, 2025, the season will premiere.
3. Finding Joy (November 5, 2025)

Perry is directing “Finding Joy,” a film from Amazon MGM Studios. He wrote the story, which revolves around Joy, a successful designer who asks for a proposal on Christmas. When the man she loves treats her like a friend, she discovers what she really needs in the mountains of Wyoming. Aaron O’Connell, Brittany S. Hall, Shannon Thornton, Tosin Morohunfola, Sandra Ellis Lafferty, and Jeffrey Thomas Johnson are among the cast members. The film will be released on November 5, 2025, after post-production is finished.
4. Joe’s College Road Trip (TBA)

The comedy film “Joes College Road Trip,” which is presently in post-production, will be directed and starred by Perry. Joe Simmons, the protagonist of the story, goes on a college trip with his grandson, B. J. Brian, B. J.’s father, hopes that Joe, his father, will help his son learn about the history of the Black community and the struggles that exist in the real world without getting killed in the process. Despite his initial dislike of Joe, B. J. eventually comes to understand the importance of the hardships faced by earlier generations and his relationship with his grandfather. Perry, Jermaine Harris, Brian D. Cohen, Shekeb Sekander, Brenda Hurley, Ben Swilley, and Kyle Fuller are among the cast members. We’re waiting on more information about the release.
5. Sisters in Italy (TBA)

“Sisters in Italy,” a film produced by Amazon MGM Studios and directed by Tyler Perry, is based on a script that Tika Sumpter and Kemiyondo Coutinho co-wrote. The story centers on two estranged sisters who, following the death of their mother, travel to Italy. There, they learn that their mother ran a bed and breakfast in the country. As the sisters are unsure of what to do with it, their mother assigns them a number of chores. They are expected to learn how to live life to the fullest and maintain their sisterhood. Alongside Sumpter, the film will feature Bresha Webb, Whoopi Goldberg, Ernie Hudson, Godfrey, Giulio Berruti, Edmond Laryea, Sarayu Blue, and Justin Chatwin. According to reports, filming is complete, and a release date is still pending.
6. Doing Life (TBA)

The Netflix film “Doing Life,” which Perry wrote and is directing, stars Naomi Baker, Danielle Moné Truitt, Tamberla Perry, and Jay Reeves. The gritty story follows a struggling single mother who meets a reformed ex-con who is looking for atonement. Eventually, the two find strength in their unlikely bond. Hasani Vibez Comer, Jasmine Sargent, and Karen Obilom are also part of the cast. A release date is still pending for “Doing Life,” which is currently in post-production.
7. Sistas Season 10 (TBA)

Season 10 of Perry’s “Sistas,” a BET drama series about a group of unmarried black women navigating relationships and life in a modern world, is reportedly in production. The conclusion of Season 9, which will set the stage for the story in the tenth season, is still up in the air. KJ Smith as Andrea “Andi” Barnes, Mignon Von as Daniella “Danni” King, Ebony Obsidian as Karen Mott, Novi Brown as Sabrina Hollins, Crystal Renee Hayslett as Fatima Wilson-Taylor, Devale Ellis as Zac Taylor, and Chido Nwokocha as Gary Marshall Borders are among the cast members who we can anticipate returning, though. Season 10’s release date is still pending.
8. The Oval Season 7 (TBA)

BET+ has officially renewed the political drama ‘The Oval’ for its seventh season, with filming for this new season starting in September 2024. Tyler Perry will continue to write the episodes, just as he has done in previous seasons. The fifth season concluded with a dramatic scene where Hunter orders his mercenaries to shoot at Victoria and her associates after a deal goes wrong, putting the lives of all major characters at risk. With the intense cliffhanger from the finale, it remains to be seen who will make it through to Season 6, which is set to premiere on January 7, 2025, and will influence the storyline for Season 7. The sixth season of the drama series Ruthless has been renewed by BET+. Filming for the installment started in July 2024. The new season will be written and directed by Tyler Perry, who created, wrote, and directed the series. Melissa L. Williams as Ruth Truesdal, Matt Cedeño as The Highest/Tyrone Luckett, Lenny Thomas as Anthony/Dikhan, Baadja-Lyne Odums as Marva, Jaime M. Callica as Brian Rollins, and Blue Kimble as Andrew are among the anticipated cast members returning for Season 6. A release date is anticipated shortly.
10. All the Queen’s Men Season 5 (TBA)

The fifth season of the drama series “All the Queen’s Men” has been renewed by BET+. Filming for the next installment started in early December 2024. Christian Keyes created the show, and Tyler Perry will continue to write it. Eva Marcille as Marilyn “Madam” DeVille, Candace Maxwell as DJ Dime, Timothy “Bayou Banga” Roberts as Big D, Rashan Ali as Ms. Tandy, Charles Dumas as James “Cadillac” DeVille, and Skyh Alvester Black as Amp “Addiction” Anthony are all expected to return in Season 5, even though Season 4 hasn’t ended yet. “Divorced Sistas,” a spin-off of “Sistas,” is currently working on its second season. June 2025 saw the release of Season 1, which concluded in July of the same year. Perry is back to writing and directing. LeToya Luckett as Rasheda, Porscha Coleman as Naomi, Jennifer Sears as Bridgette, Briana Price as Tiffany, DeVon Franklin as Pastor Jefferson, RonReaco Lee as William, Robert Christopher Riley as Javon, and Donovan Christie Jr. as Franklin are among the returning cast members. Season 2 filming is still ongoing, and a release date has not yet been announced.
12. Assisted Living Season 7 (TBA)

The seventh season of the BET+ sitcom “Assisted Living” has been renewed. According to reports, filming would start in June 2025. The plot centers on Jeremy and his family moving back to Georgia to assist Jeremy’s grandfather in his assisted living facility. David Mann as Mr. Brown, J. Anthony Brown as Vinny, Tamela Mann as Cora, Na’im Lynn as Jeremy, Alretha Thomas as Anastasia, Chet Anekwe as Efe, Tayler Buck as Sandra, Damien Leake as Reginald, and Alex Henderson as Phillip are among the actors who are anticipated to return for season 7. Season 7’s release date is still pending.
13. Route 187 (TBA)

Perry is working on a crime drama series called “Route 187” for BET+. It will be written and directed by him. The plot, which takes place in the crime-ridden city of South Winslow against a backdrop of urban violence, centers on the public outcry following the murders of a bus driver on Route 187 and a standout high school basketball player by thugs, which prompts authorities to hunt down the perpetrators who were caught on camera. Starring Hasani Vibez Comer, Josef Cannon, Lawrence Robinson, Bryce Clyde Jenkins, Tonia Jackson, Rashal James, and Taylor Simone Mason, the series is currently in pre-production.
