NewZNew (Chandigarh) : Continuing with her winning streak, city’s golf prodigy Vasundhara Thiara has finished a close 2nd in a strong field in the Girls Category C at the IGU Southern India Ladies & Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship which concluded at the Eagleton Golf and Country Club, Bangalore recently.

Earlier this month, Vasundhara had finished a close 3rd in The Mercedes-Benz Junior Golf Championship’s Asian Masters 2015 at another challenging venue, The Burapha Golf & Country Resort in Chonburi, Thailand.

After a disastrous opening round on a windy day, when she went out of bounds giving away a lead of 6 strokes to finish 7th in a field of 20 girls in the under 13 age group, she came back smartly in the second and third rounds and finished just a stroke behind the ultimate winner Annika Verma.

Says Vasundhara on her return to the city, “It was a very challenging course and we played in very windy conditions. It was being very difficult to adjust. As ill luck would have it, on Day-1 my ball bounced off the cart path, hit a tree and went out of bounds. On Day-2 I played a better round of 77 which catapulted me to the 2nd position behind Annika Verma. It was a 5 over on the Front 9, but I returned into the game by playing even par on the Back 9. Day-3 saw me sinking 3 birdies to return a round of 75 and finish just one stroke behind Annika.”

However, immediately on her radar is the Junior Golf Championship being organised by the Chandigarh Golf Club on July 4.
