Made by Jeffrey Lieber, J.J. Abrams, & Damon Lindelof, ‘Lost’ is about a group flying from Sydney to LA. Their plane falls on an isle in the South Pacific Ocean. This odd land has strange things like ice bears & the “Smoke Master,” a beast not seen in the wild.

The isle is also where a mean group, “The Others,” live. As the folk look around the isle & try hard to find a way out, old tales show their lives from before the fall. The show, first on ABC, points out how folk act when they must stay alive. If you want shows like ‘Lost’ on Netflix, here’s a list for you.

1. Keep Breathing (2022)

Led by Martin Gero & Brendan Gall, ‘Keep Breathing’ shows Melissa Barrera as Liv, a law student. She joins a small plane when her big flight can’t go. Sad news hits as the plane falls into a lake in a big wood in Canada, with Liv left as the one who did not die. As she fights through the wild to get back home, old scenes show why she got there. The show shares a lot with ‘Lost, ‘Netflix,  from a plane fall to living in the woods & finding out more on folks in old scenes. You can see the short show here.

2. The I-Land (2019)

From the mind of Anthony Salter, ‘The I-Land’ stars ten folks who wake on a lone, hot isle. They don’t know how they got there at first. They can’t even recall their own names. So, they use the names on their clothes. As they seek ways to live, fights pop up. These are due to their clash in ways & views. Soon, one sees that this is all part of a dark plot. Like ‘Lost,’ the show has folks who must group up when they end up in a strange place. You can watch the show here.

3. Into the Night (2020-2021)

The show ‘Into the Night’ is based on a book. It stars folks on a plane who live through a big, bad sun event. They fly in the dark to stay safe. They face food & fuel low, & tricks from the group. They aim to get to a safe army spot. It is like ‘Lost,’ with plane folks out to live on. See this show by Jason George on Netflix.

4. The 100 (2014-2020)

Loosely from Kass Morgan’s books, ‘The 100′ is about a world post-nukes where lots live on a space spot called the Ark. It held three rounds of births before it began to fail. To ease the load, a hundred youths are sent back to Earth to check if it’s safe. They find others who lived on Earth & clash for life. 5. The Rain (2018-2020)

Made by Jannik Tai Mosholt, Esben Toft Jacobsen, & Christian Potalivo, ‘The Rain.’ It shows a world with no hope, full of a virus. Rain spreads it, & it kills most in Scandinavia, plus the mom of Danish kids, Simone and Rasmus Andersen. The two hide in a bunker & later look for their dad, who is a scientist. They meet young ones who lived &, just like in ‘Lost,’ they face tough times. See the show here.

6. Manifest (2018-2023)

Run by Jeff Rake, ‘Manifest’ tracks the tale of folks on Montego Air Flight 828. They go from Jamaica to New York City. Mid-air, the plane hits a rough spot, and on land, all find out that over five years have gone by. The ones on the plane were thought to be dead, and their kin & friends have moved on. It’s hard for them to go back to life, & they start to hear sounds & see what’s yet to come. Like in ‘Lost,’ the crew & flyers must deal with a new world. You can watch it all on Netflix.

7. Lost in Space (2018-2021)

Based on the 1812 book ‘The Swiss Family Robinson’ & the 1962 comic ‘Space Family Robinson,’ ‘Lost in Space’ is in 2046. A big space rock makes folks doubt if we can live on. Some families are sent to live in space near the star Alpha Centauri. The 24th trip has the Robinsons on board. But their ship, the Resolute, is hit by an alien bot. All must get off in small ships & the Robinsons land on a strange, good-for-life world. Like those in ‘Lost,’ the Robinsons learn to live with the land & face big hard things as they try to find the Resolute. Stream it here.

8. Katla (2021)

From Baltasar Kormákur & Sigurjón Kjartansson, ‘Katla‘ starts a year after a big volcano blows in Iceland. It wipes out most folk near the town of Vík. Few who live through the ash are shocked when a lost woman shows up, not aged at all. Soon, more people who had died come back, sparking tall tales of “Switched ones.” As folks meet these “Switched ones,” they face old hurts. A man who studies rocks finds a space rock in the ice, leading to odd twists. The mix of folks & “Switched ones” in ‘Katla’ links to the mix in ‘Lost.’ See it on Netflix.

9. The Glass Dome (2025)

First known as ‘Glaskupan,’ ‘The Glass Dome’ by Camilla Läckberg has Lejla Ness (Léonie Vincent), a mind scientist who looks into crime. She gets a call from her dad, ex-cop Valter Ness (Johan Hedenberg), who tells her his wife has died. This takes Lejla back to Granås in Sweden, a made-up small spot. She feels torn about this place because she was once taken there as a young girl. Now, a young girl has gone. Lejla & Valter look into it. The show digs into the feel of being stuck & the fight to break free. It is kind of like ‘Lost.’ You can watch it here.

10. Dark (2017-2020)

Set by Baran bo Odar & Jantje Friese, ‘Dark’ happens in the made-up town of Winden in Germany. When kids vanish, four odd kin, the Kahnwald, Nielsen, Doppler, & Tiedemann, work as one to look into it. It leads them to a dark truth under the town’s nuke plant & a plot over four age groups. The time jumps in the show are like the back & forth tales in ‘Lost.’ Binge-watch this science fic mystery on Netflix.

11. Black Summer (2019-2021)

A part of the zombie horror show ‘Z-Nation,’ made by Karl Schaefer & John Hyams, ‘Black Summer’ starts six weeks after the zombie end-days start. It is about Rose (Jaime King), a mom who loses her girl Anna (Zoe Marlett) & seeks her. She meets & joins a small band of safe folk, facing big, deadly risks. Like ‘Lost,’ it shows how tough it is to live against big odds. See it on Netflix.

12. 3% (2016-2020)

Run by Pedro Aguilera, ‘3%’ takes place in a world split by how much cash you have. The rich stay in the Offshore, a dream isle. The poor stay on land. Each year, the ones who turn 20 can try to go to Offshore by tests where only three percent pass. One new pass is Michele Santana (Bianca Comparato), a gal who knows this is not fair. Like ‘Lost,’ it shows the fight of folk who want to get out of a bad spot. See the show here.
