Fortunately, on his 100th omiai, he meets the stunning Han Soo-jung, who appears to be flawless in every sense. Unfortunately, she also has a tragedy that is not allowing her to move forward. They consist of Darryl, his wife Yvonne (Elise Neal), and their kids, 12-year-old girl Sydney and 10-year-old son Michael. They have only just moved into their new home in a largely white community in San Fernando Valley, California. Providing a humorous spin on culture conflict and racial issues, the sitcom demonstrates how the Hughleys struggle to adapt to the new neighborhood without sacrificing their heritage. The story is about three friends Mikami, Kanji, and Satomi who have been close friends since childhood and come to Tokyo for their respective reasons. Mikami and Kanji both have hidden love for Satomi, but when Kanji sees Mikami attempting to get close to Satomi, he shifts his feelings towards his new co-worker, Rika. Will this last? Produced by Michael Jenkins and Ben Gannon, ‘Heartbreak High’ is an Australian television series which was a great success in the 90s. It tracks the students and faculty of Hartley High School, Sydney. Focusing on the multiracial issues, the series provides a more realistic portrayal of the students, their families, and the school administration, addressing issues such as friendship, love, family, heartbreak, teenage problems, parenthood, and all the complexities that come with them. The show set up the careers of some of its cast members, such as Alex Dimitriades (‘Wildside,’ ‘The Slap’), Ada Nicodemou (‘Police Rescue,’ ‘Breakers’), Salvatore Coco (‘Underbelly,’ ‘Home and Away’), and Corey Page (‘Home And Away,’ ‘McLeod’s Daughters’). ‘Heartbreak High’ was a spin-off of the Australian movie ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ (1993), which was an adaptation of Richard Barrett’s 1987 play. The show is set in the fictional town of Angel Grove, California, and focuses on five teenagers selected by Zordan, a galactic wizard, to defend the world against evil alien sorceress Rita Repulsa and her goons from space. The teenagers are given power morphers which grant them the ability to become superhumans, referred to as Power Rangers, and apply their abilities and weaponry to defeat evil. With the foundation of the mother-daughter relationship being the center, ‘The Parkers’ has a comedic spin on womanhood, duty, youth, adulthood, and the love lives of the ladies. His daily shenanigans at the hotel, such as his courting of desk clerk Francesca aka Fanny (Garcelle Beauvais), and his fights with hotel accountant Braxton (Christopher B. Duncan), add to the humor of the show. Foxx received the ‘Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series’ award at the 1998 NAACP Image Awards for this program. Featuring actor/comedian Martin Lawrence as the lead character, ‘Martin’ was Fox’s most-watched show during its airing. The show revolves around Martin Payne, a Detroit, Michigan-based DJ. When he is not hosting his radio show at the made-up station WZUP, he is keeping busy with escapades with friends Cole and Tommy while Gina, whom he has a crush on, has to put up with it all, much to the detriment of the viewers’ laughter. Tisha Campbell plays Gina, Thomas Mikal Ford plays Tommy, and Carl Anthony Payne II plays Cole. Tim is the host of the home-improvement show, ‘Tool Time,’ with his buddy Al as co-host. Their next-door neighbor Wilson is the fix-it man for Tim and Jill whenever the couple has any issue. That is the reality of the sitcom, which provides audiences with fun, drama, and, from time to time, some do-it-yourself tips that go beyond hardware. It is one of the most popular Japanese mecha anime (a type of anime that involves robots in combat) television series directed by Hideaki Anno. Mixing strands of Jewish and Christian studies and Shinto cosmology, the series revolves around Shinji, a teenager who was recruited by the special military organization Nerv to protect Tokyo-3, the city of the future, from harmful space entities referred to as Angels. To perform his work, he must operate a bio-machine referred to as Evangelion Unit-01, one of the numerous bio-machines of Nerv, the Evangelions. Piloting means coordinating one’s nervous system with the machine to better be able to control it but increasing the risks in the event of suffering damage. Sounds a little too much like ‘Pacific Rim’? The winner of the ‘Best Loved Series’ award during the 1996 Anime Grand Prix, the characters of this show also gained a great deal of acknowledgment and are ranked among the best anime characters of all time.
