NewZNew (Chandigarh) : The 2nd International & 4th Indian Psychological Science Congress (IPSC 2015) began at the Post Graduate Govt College, Sector 46, here today.  The two-day annual event is being organized under the aegis of National Association of Psychological Science India (NAPS) in association with the World Without Anger (WWA) organization and the Department of Psychology, PGGC-46.

Addressing the national and international delegates and students during the inaugural function, Dr Dalip Singh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary – Revenue (Haryana) and author of the famous book “Emotional Intelligence at Work”, said, “I am happy to learn that the subject of psychology has come out from the classrooms and books and is being actively practiced in the everyday life. According to a study, around 80 percent of the diseases have psychological base. If a person is psychologically happy, his life will definitely will be full of health and happiness.”

Dr Roshan Lal Dahiya, Assistant Professor, Psychology, Panjab University, and President, NAPS, said, “During the two days, the conference will focus on the psychological well-being of the society, which also deals with emotions and feelings of an individual. One may have everything, income, environment, culture, community, health, etc., but none of these can be fruitful in absence of psychological well-being.”

Delivering the key note address, Prof Rajbir Hooda, MD University, Rohtak, emphasized on the importance of greetings and mutual good relations with the fellow beings to keep away any misshappening in our lives. Social support and social interactions are the key to good health and happiness.”

Dr Rajesh Kumar introduced two eminent persons from the field of psychology who were given NAPS awards for their contribution and hard work. They were Dr Mahesh Dohlia from Delhi and Prof Vidu Mohan, Department of Psychology, Panjab University.

A large number of delegates from all over the country and foreign nations including Nepal, Srilanka, Bangladesh etc. are participating in the congress. The theme of this conference is ‘Psychological Well Being – The Concerns and Development”.

Dr S S Phulia, DC, Yamuna Nagar and Patron, NAPS, along with Dr Gurjeet Kaur, Principal, PGGC-46 were also present on the occasion.
