Chandigarh, December 28, 2015 (NewZNew):- Sector 26, Chandigarh witnessed an unfortunate incident of collapse of a building today. In the incident 11 labourers were injured and 6 others died on the spot. The injured labourers have been admitted to PGI, GMCH 32 and GMSH 16 and the post mortem of the labourers who lost their lives is being conducted in PGI. District Magistrate, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, visited the injured in all the three hospitals along with Sub Divisional Magistrate (East) Smt. Tapasya Raghav, IAS. The Chandigarh Administration has announced a relief for the labourers who lost their lives in the incident:
Below 40 years – 2 lakh
40-50 years – 1.5 lakh
50-60 years – 1 lakh
This relief will be given to the family of the deceased persons after complete verification by the Labour department. Enquiry will be soon conducted on two facts, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (East) would look in the facts and details if the basement construction was authentic or not, and The Labour Department would provide a detailed report of the labourers on the same.
Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS has ensured that proper treatment is given to the injured and all the major expenses of the same will be incurred by the Administration.
