The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gave a big blow to the Shiromani Akali Dal Badal on Saturday when senior Akali leader from Malerkotla Mohammad Owais joined the AAP.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann officially inducted Mohammad Owais to the AAP family and welcomed him saying that his joining will strengthen the party in Malerkotla and Sangrur. He said that people from every community and corner of Punjab are joining the AAP, they are impressed by the pro-people and pro-Punjab decisions of our government and want to work to make Punjab Rangla again.

Owais is the owner of Star Impact Malerkotla, a sport shoe manufacturer and leather exporter, who also runs Al Kauser Football Academy, which has produced many state level and professional football players from Malerkotla. He has also fielded Punjab legislative assembly elections from Malerkotla seat in 2017 for Akali Dal.
